Chances are, if you have lived in this world for any length of time, you have encountered stress. How to destress can keep you healthy, and happy.
Chances are also good that you are already aware of some methods of how to destress in your life, and possibly even currently using some of these methods in your daily life.
What is stress? Stress has been defined as an emotional or mental state, or feeling of pressure or strain caused by negative, or very challenging circumstances, or perceived negative or challenging circumstances.
Stress is your body/mind’s way of reacting to any type of stressor, or anything that causes stress. Typical stressors are work/job, family obligations, social situations, driving in traffic, financial needs, or health issues.
Stress can cause high blood pressure, anxiety, weight gain/obesity, digestive issues, skin problems like eczema, hair loss, sleep loss, and if untreated for long periods, stress can lead to more serious chronic illnesses like heart disease, and even cancer.
Many people, in an effort to deal with or alleviate the stress they feel, turn to alcohol, and other drugs, including both over the counter, prescription, and illegal drugs such as marijuana ( legal in some states ), cocaine, methamphetamine, and/or heroin.
Alcohol in excess can deplete the body of needed B vitamins, as well as other vitamins, and minerals.
Turning to alcohol to combat stress is usually very counterproductive.
However, it has been shown that if you can limit your alcohol intake to 1 to 2 moderate drinks per day, it can have a beneficial destressing result, at least temporarily.
Stress has negative effects on the bodies organs, and systems. It depletes B vitamins, affects liver function, adrenal function, and pancreatic function.
B vitamins, which are made in the small intestine, and the adrenal glands are involved with energy. We make adrenaline when we sleep, and if we do not get 5 straight hours of uninterrupted sleep at night, we make less than 30% of the amount of adrenaline we need during the day to give us the energy we need to function adequately.
Experts agree that we need 7 to 8 total hours of sleep a night in order to allow our bodies to regenerate it’s stores for the immune system.
Drinking caffeinated coffee can flog the adrenals, put a load on the kidneys, deplete B vitamins, negatively affect sleep, create a carcinogenic atmosphere in the body, and, as a result, contribute to added feelings of stress.
Refined sugar is also a definite no no when it comes to helping stress. It is well documented that refined sugar is detrimental to your mood, and overall mental health. It is one of the worst so called foods to put in your body, causing a never ending list of health problems.
Some grains, such as wheat, barley, and rye can create mood problems, and can even cause severe depression, and other brain, and mental issues. It is thought that the gluten content in these grains is to blame.
Processed foods ( I hesitate to call them foods as they have removed all or virtually all of any nutrient value they originally contained ) are notorious for creating many health issues, not the least of which are moodiness, and irritability. A better defintion of processed foods, is dead foods.
Most processed foods, which come in a can, bottle, box, or bag will do you more harm than good in almost every case, and should not be eaten, if at all possible.
How to destress with foods
Tryptophan rich foods: Tryptophan is an amino acid that is found in many foods, most notably turkey.
Tryptophan is converted to serotonin in the body, and has a calming affect. Other foods rich in tryptophan include walnuts, free range eggs, and pumpkin seeds.
Dark chocolate Good news for those of us that love chocolate. It is not a myth that eating
Dark chocolate produces chemicals in the brain that bring about a euphoria or a feel good mental state.
Fermented foods are foods in which natural bacteria feed on the starch, and sugar within the food, and in turn makes lactic acid. This process is called lactofermentation.
This process has many health benefits. It generates beneficial enzymes, acts as a preservative for the food, makes B vitamins, makes different types of probiotics, as well as the heralded Omega-3 fatty acids.
B vitamins are particularly effective in alleviating, and combating stress, and fermented foods provide a highly bio available form of these nutrients that the body can easily absorb, and utilize.
Some common fermented foods are: sauerkraut, yogurt, tempeh, miso, natto, kefir, pickles, and apple cider vinegar.
Some common fermented drinks are: beer, wine, and mead.
Dark, leafy, green veggies contain high levels of folate, which has been shown to help the body produce serotonin, and dopamine, the mood regulators, and thus fend off depression, and elevate mood.
These powerful vegetables include: swiss chard, spinach, mustard greens, kale, collard greens, turnip greens, and romaine lettuce.
Asparagus, although not a dark, leafy green, is also high in folate, and provides the same calming affect.
Avocados are also high in folate, and they contain other B vitamins which are very beneficial in reducing feelings of stress.
How to destress with berries
Many berries, especially blueberries are high in anti oxidant content, which has many health benefits including improving cognition, which is the mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the senses.
Every type of berry has a high content of Vitamin C, which is known to be helpful in reducing stress, blood pressure, and cortisol levels.
What you may have heard about nuts is true. They contain many nutrients that are beneficial to our health.
Two different nuts are particularly useful in stress reduction. They are walnuts, and cashews.
Walnuts are shaped like a brain. Coincidence? I think not. Pardon the pun. They contain folate, tryptophan, and melatonin, and can increase seratonin levels in the brain.
These processes help reduce stress, and can produce feelings of well being, and relaxation.
Cashews are a great source of the mineral zinc. Higher levels of zinc have been shown to alleviate anxiety, and depression.
They also contain B vitamins, Omega 3 fatty acids, and tryptophan, which combine to decrease stress.
Herbs that help with how to destress
In addition to the various foods that help alleviate stress, there are many herbs that can contribute to the battle to combat stress. The best known stress fighting herbs are:
Kava Kava: This herb is common to Polynesia, or the south Pacific islands.
Also known as just Kava, it has a calming mental effect when the roots are brewed.
It is useful in relaxing anxiety, and even social anxiety, without any known side effects as with pharmaceutical drugs used for the same purpose.
Ashwagandha Having Indian Aruydvedic medicinal beginnings, this useful herb has been used for thousands of years to alleviate anxiety, and stress.
It is the roots of Ashwaganda that contain the active ingredients that produce it’s positive effects.
Chamomile This versatile herb can be used as a tea, or as a supplement. It is known to be an excellent nerve, and mind calming tonic.
It is perhaps best known as a sleep inducing herb that has been used as such for hundreds of years.
Passion Flower Another Polynesian wonder herb, this beautiful color laden plant can also help alleviate stress, and extreme anxiety, and is an excellent mind calming sleep aid. A positive side effect is as an aphrodisiac.
Lavender Although lavender can be calleda flower, and is also often used as an essential oil. It’s scent alone is often enough to bring about a state of relaxation, and peacefulness.
Lavender is an age old secret for inducing sleep in infants. Drinking the infused tea is another method of producing it’s destressing properties.
Using foods and herbs to help you deal with our stressful world, is an easy, and positive step. It is however, only part of the destress equation.
You should also include moderate exercise, meditation, massage, time away from work, communing with nature, and discovering your spiritual side, in your stress fighting arsenal.
In learning how to destress, take heed to the old adage,” take time to smell the roses”, or in other words, slow down and enjoy life.
The foods we eat, and our lifestyles can either help us minimize or alleviate stress, or it can add stress to our lives.
It is important that we keep stress under control, and we can do it with a few simple changes in diet, and lifestyle. What will you choose to do?

Welcome to Top Foods Fight Cancer. If you knew that by eating certain foods, and by not eating other foods, you could cut your cancer risk by over 90%, you would do it, wouldn’t you?
It is true. You can do it. Your diet for cancer is vitally important.
Did you know that at the turn of the century in the year 1900, just over a hundred years ago, cancer was almost unheard of?
What changed? What are we doing differently than what our ancestors did?
As more and more people migrated to the cities from the farms, a demand was created for food to be provided for the city residents. It was discovered that if this food could be preserved, and processed, it could increase profits.
An entire industry was born that was, and is dedicated to processing, and adulterating foods for unaware people that needed the convenience of going to a store to buy their needed food staples.
In addition, it was discovered that by adding chemicals to crops, both before and after planting, that the harvest could have a greater yield, and make more money for the farmer, and others in the food supply chain.
Cancer was uncommon at turn of last century.
Most folks in this time, around the year 1900, worked outdoors for 12-14 hours a day, most every day. Skin cancer was simply non existent. The reason why cancers are so common today, is primarily our poor diet.
In America, it is known as SAD, Standard American Diet. We now know that skin cancer is primarily caused by bad oils in our diet, called partially hydrogenated, or hydrogenated oils, as well as other heated oils.
These and other bad oils that are so ubiquitous in our diet, cause skin cell membranes to lose their ability to excrete wastes, and absorb nutrients.
As a result, exposure to the sun can go from being good for us, by providing much needed vitamin D3, to causing serious issues to our skin health.
It’s true that top foods fight cancer, but unfortunately, it’s also true that bad foods feed cancer, and can make it worse.
Other bad foods to avoid include smoked meats, grilled or barbequed meats, red meat, processed meats, refined sugar, and other processed foods.
Smoked meats, either smoked to preserve the meats, or as a cooking method, are both carcinogenic, and should be put on your do not eat list.
Grilled or barbequed meats create a char on the surface of the meat. These chars are called heterocyclic amines, and are known to cause cancer.
Many processed meats such as packaged bologna, and other canned, or packaged meats contain the carcinogenic food additives sodium nitrate, and sodium nitrite.
Other dangerous, cancer causing food additives to avoid are Butylated HydroxyAnisole (BHA), a preservative found in crackers, butter, cereals, beer, and added fat foods.
Refined sugar is everywhere in processed foods. These sugars are quite possibly the most harmful substance we can put in our bodies. They feed cancer, and should be avoided like the plague.
Good, healthy alternatives to refined sugar are raw, unheated honey, organic stevia, organic agave nectar, and organic maple syrup.
Always read the labels on food packaging, and if it contains any of these aforementioned cancer causing agents or additives, I suggest looking for an alternative.
The Glycemic Index will give you the effect of blood glucose levels of most foods. Avoid the high glycemic, and medium glycemic foods, especially the processed, and refined foods. Low glycemic foods that are real foods are best, and are top foods fight cancer.
It is also known that alcoholic beverages are harmful, and carcinogenic. Many of these beverages are fermented, like wine, and beer, and are less harmful than many other alcoholic type drinks, but the alcohol is the problem, and the less consumed of it, the better.
As many as 400 million cups of coffee are consumed by Americans every day, and some 400 billion cups of coffee are drank worldwide in a year. Safe to say that Americans love coffee.
This statement could make you unhappy if you are like me, and love your morning coffee.
Coffee creates a carcinogenic atmosphere in the body, not to mention it puts a load on the kidneys, flogs the adrenals which can cause anxiety, is a diuretic, and contains caffeine that constricts blood vessels( which can actually be a positive for migraine headaches )
Coffee does however, have good anti oxidant properties, and organic coffee enemas with good anti infective herbs are a very effective liver detox, and cleanser.
Coffee has also been shown to have positive effects on preventing colon cancer. By drinking one to two cups of joe per day, you may be able to lower your colon cancer risk by up to 50%.
Coffee has also been shown to help prevent Parkinsons disease, can help with Alzheimers disease, reducing the risk of adult onset, or Type ll diabetes, reduce the risk of Asthma attacks, and relieve Migraine headaches.
Coffee can help reduce LDL, or bad cholesterol, and also helps lower inflammation in the body.
There are many foods that we can eat that can protect us from, and help us fight, and defeat cancer. Here is the list:
9 Top Foods Fight Cancer Food Groups
These top foods fight cancer in a powerful way. There are nine groups of food that provide strong cancer busting properties. These foods can block formation of cancer cells.
They can stop the formation of blood vessels that feed the tumors, and as a result, halt their growth. These powerful nine food groups can also stop the migration of cancer into adjoining tissues.
Marijuana (Cannabis) CBD Oil Can hinder the spread and growth of some cancers. By fighting inflammation and oxidative stress CBD oil shows much promise in this most important area. CBD oil is also effective in controlling symptoms such as pain, and anxiety.
Top foods fight cancer, and so do many compounds, or supplements.
Compounds (supplements ) to fight cancer
Vitamin E You want the natural vitamin E, d alpha tocopherol, not the synthetic version of vitamin E, dl alpha tocopherol.
Chlorella a super green that contains high levels of beta carotene, minerals, and vitamin B-12.
Indole 3 Carbinol (I3C), Effective against many cancers, especially those cancers with a hormonal base.
Modified Citrus Pectin Has shown ability to limit metastases of cancer cells.
The role of the PH in fighting cancer.
Top foods fight cancer, and can even help raise your PH. It is now known that cancer cannot live in an oxygen rich environment.
Your PH is the level of acidity/alkilinity in your blood, and tissues.
Generally, the more acidic you are, the less oxygen you have, and the more alkaline you are the more oxygen you have.
Most people have an acidic ph. Ideally though, you want to be slightly alkiline, between 6.4-7.0 on the PH scale to achieve your optimum oxygen levels.
The best way to find out what your PH levels are, is to buy a roll of PH paper, and test your first morning PH by taking a piece of the PH paper and running it under your urine.
Be sure to do this before eating or drinking anything. You then compare this paper with the color chart to know your PH level.
Most people are in the low to mid 5’s on the scale, which is quite acidic, and can be directly attributed to the lack of minerals in our diets, and/or our inability to digest our food properly in order to absorb these nutrients.
Top 10 Most Alkaline Foods (Eat these foods) These Top Foods Fight Cancer
These top foods fight cancer, and some may grow in your own back yard.
Soursop or Graviola
This prickly, green colored fruit is found in tropical regions. It is native to the Americas.
Also known as the Guyabano, this large fruit can weigh as much as 15 pounds.
It has been shown to selectively kill cells of 12 different types of cancer including prostate, lung, pancreatic, breast, and colon. It also does not harm healthy cells in the process.
Soursop also has many other health benefits like anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, helps blood issues, bone health, anti-infective, helps skin conditions, nerve health, and heart health.
This amazing fruit is found in the Queensland rain forests of Australia. It is very effective against cancerous tumors of the neck, and face.
It is also a wonderful treatment against skin cancer, even melanoma.
It works quickly, and has eradicated large tumors in as little as a few weeks.
The Blushwood Berry, and it’s derivative appear to be effective against surface cancers, and not against internal cancers.
Also called bitter gourd, bitter apple, wild cucumber, and bitter cucumber this green warty fruit/vegetable has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years.
It is grown widely throughout Asia, and Africa. It’s extract, and juice has been found effective against many cancers including stomach, liver, breast, pancreatic, colon, and leukemia.
It has shown the ability to kill cancer stem cells, the most stubborn part of any tumor to kill, and also works by cutting the energy source of the cancer, and eventually killing it. Bitter melon is also rich in vitamins, and minerals, and has anti-viral, anti-diabetic, and anti-oxidant properties.
Apricots, or more specifically apricot kernals have shown many health benefits, including anti-cancer activity.
Also called laetrile, amygdalin, or vitamin B17, apricot kernals have been around for thousands of years, especially in the cool, arid climates where the trees grow naturally.
Countries where the apricot tree grows naturally include, China, Armenia, and India, among others. Although many other fruits also contain amygdalin, apricot kernals have the highest concentrations, as well as accompanying enzymes.
These substances have shown ability to help breast cancer, and other cancerous tumors. Apricot kernals are relatively inexpensive, and easily found online, and in health food stores.
There are still locations outside of the United States where apricot kernal’s B17 and laetrile therapies are available.
Consumption of apricots, and apricot kernals have been attributed as a major cause of the long lives, and great health of a civilzation called the Hunzas, where it is not uncommon for people to live as long as 135 years with no signs of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or arthritis.
Honey and Cinnamon
Raw, unheated honey, and organic Ceylon cinnamon are necessary for optimum results.
Research in Australia, and Japan has shown that advanced cancer of the stomach, and bones have seen near miraculous results when honey and cinnamon are combined.
Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder three times a day for one month.
This combination is also amazingly effective for flu, arthritis, heart disease, bladder infections, colds, upset stomach, gas, skin infections, weight loss, hearing loss, and much more.
Not only do top foods fight cancer, but so do essential oils. Essential oils are not foods per se, but their natural, positive, zero side effect activity in fighting cancer is too important to omit.
Essential oils have been around for millenia, and have a myriad of health benefits, including fighting cancer.
There are 5 essential oils in particular that show direct positive effects against cancer.
Oregano Essential Oil
This is not the oregano that is found as a spice in most supermarkets in the US. Rather, it is wild oregano that is native to the Mediterranean.
In addition to it’s anti-microbial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties, the carvacrol in oregano is effective against prostate cancer cells.
Oregano essential oil also contains the active constituent carnasol which stops the growth of colon, breast, prostate, and skin cancer cells.
Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense essential oil is made from the resin or sap of the Boswellia tree found commonly in the Middle East, and Asia.
Frankincense has been utilized for thousands of years for healing, and for religious practices.
Boswellic acid is the main active ingredient in frankincense, and also has strong anti-inflammatory properties.
Traditionally, China, and India have used frankincense as part of their medical protocols for treating many health issues, including cancer.
Frankincense essential oil has shown significant anti-tumor activity against pancreatic cancer cells, as well as bladder cancer cells.
In addition, frankincense doesn’t harm healthy cells, and has none of the side effects normally caused by allopathic cancer treatments such as radiation, and chemotherapy.
Chamomile Essential Oil
Chamomile is perhaps the oldest known herb used for medicinal purposes, having been used since antquity.
Originating in Italy, and Germany, it’s active ingredients are flavonoids, and terpenoids.
Chamomile tea is it’s most common use, but the essential oil of chamomile is far stronger, and more potent for medicinal uses.
Apigenin has been indicated as the bioactive ingredient in chamomile essential oil. This constituent is able to block the formation of cancer cells in breast, prostate, skin, and ovarian cancers.
As with other essential oil cancer therapies, with chamomile there are no side effects, and the healthy cells of these affected tissues, and organs are left intact.
Thyme Essential Oil
Thyme has been used over the centuries for various purposes like culinary, and to treat conditions, and illnesses.
In ancient Egypt it was used for embalming. In ancient Greece it was used in their baths, and in their incense.
Thyme was commonly used to prevent nightmares in medieval Europe. The active constituent thymol has shown significant prowess in eliminating cancer cells associated with lung cancer, prostate cancer, and breast cancer.
Thymol seems to have the ability to initiate many cytotoxic events towards cancer cells, while maintaining healthy cells, and without causing side effects.
Rosemary Essential Oil
Rosemary essential oil have many uses, and is commonly used in cooking, in pest control, and as a pleasant fragrance in bathroom products.
It contains plant compounds that are therapeutic, and many powerful phytochemicals, and has a high degree of cell and DNA protective antioxidants.
Rosemary essential oil’s active agents show strong tumor fighting abilities with skin cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, ovarian, and even blood cancer.
Rosemary essential oils cause zero side effects, and leave healthy cells untouched.

There are 3 key components to the digestive process:
1. Hydrochloric acid levels Hydrochloric acid plays a key role in digestion in the stomach. As food enters the stomach the HCL breaks it down, kills any pathogens, and allows the nutrients to be sent to the blood stream and then to the cells of the body.
As we age, the levels of HCL decrease due to the amount of cooked, processed food we ingest. Usually around the age of 40, the HCL levels in the stomach have decreased enough to where some of the food we eat sits in the stomach instead of being digested, and rots, turning into lactic acid.
There are many foods that can actually help with digestion.
Raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes. These raw foods contain their own digestive enzymes that catalyze the digestive process, and don’t deplete your stomach’s stores of precious hydrochloric acid, or digestive enzymes such as pepsin.
Best foods digestion also includes fermented foods. Fermented foods aid in digestion, and boost immunity. The most common fermented foods are yogurt, sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi, natto, kefir, tempeh, miso, cacao, sourdough, apple cider vinegar, and various other vegetables.
It is relatively easy, and inexpensive to ferment your own foods. As an example, sauerkraut is quite easy to make.
You will need a cabbage, preferably organic, a large mason jar, a cutting board, sharp knife, some sun dried sea salt, and some filtered or distilled water, about a half a liter for this batch.
Do not use chlorinated water. Simply take a cabbage, cut it up into small pieces.
Place the cabbage into your bowl, save a few good size pieces dry to place on top of the mixture in the jar to help give it an air tight seal.
In your jar, pour a half liter of filtered or distilled water, and about a tablespoon of your sun dried sea salt.
Stir the sea salt in the jar’s water, and pour it into the bowl with your cut up cabbage. Massage the mixture in the bowl with your hands.
With your hands, take out the cabbage and place in the jar, pressing down as you go to keep the air out. Once you have the jar almost full, add the water from the bowl into the jar.
Fill it close to the top, about 90% full, and then add the dry pieces of cabbage that you saved to give it an air tight seal, or as close as you can get it.
Seal the jar tightly, but not too tightly, and some pressure will build with time, and expand the mixture.
Be sure to place a plastic bag or something else underneath the jar to catch any water that may seep out. Leave on your counter for about 5 to 7 days.
Once you open the jar, you can place it in the refrigerator, or a cellar that is approximately 55 degrees fahrenheit.
This will halt the fermentation process. Many other vegetables can be fermented in a similar fashion.
If you don’t want to ferment your own food, or only on occasion, no problem. Fermented foods are available at most supermarkets, but best to buy them at markets that specialize in organic products such as Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme, Trader Joe’s and many others.
It is a good idea to eat at least one fermented food with each meal.
Many drinks are fermented, and have been enjoyed for many centuries, such as wine, beer, beet kvass, mead, kombucha, buttermilk, and ginger ale.
Unfortunately, in this day and age, many of these products have been adulterated with chemicals, preservatives, and much of the ingredients are from GMO, genetically modified organisms which render many of these drinks as ineffective, and may even be harmful for you.
If you can create these drinks yourself, you can assure yourself that the result will be pure, and it is your best bet. If not, try to buy organic, non GMO products from health food, or organic stores. Fermented foods and drinks qualify as best foods digestion.
Some foods help coat the inside of your colon, and are soothing to your intestines, such as raw aloe vera, slippery elm bark, raw eggs, Irish moss, and chia seeds.
Easily digestible foods
Some foods will not necessarily aid in digestion, but they will at least not create a burden to your digestive processes. Fresh non farm raised fish, such as wild Alaskan salmon, free of antibiotics, and hormones that is either prepared raw, or baked can be easily digested.
Free range chicken, free of antibiotics and hormones that is not fried, and ideally baked, is easy on your tummy.
Lean meats that are free of antibiotics, and hormones, grass fed, and not fried, are much easier to digest than typical fatty red meats that are so common in our American diet. More best foods digestion.
Coconut oil: expeller pressed, unrefined, organic coconut oil contains fatty acids and anti microbial properties that aid digestion.
Ghee or clarified butter: unlike regular butter, at room temperature, ghee won’t spoil and rancidify.
In fact, ghee retains it freshness and flavor for as long as a year. Ghee aids in digestion by stimulating the secretion of acid in the stomach that help break down food.
Bone broth: bone broth contains a gelatanious substance that attracts and holds moisture that helps seal and heal the gut. which supports optimum digestion.
Bones from organically raised, grass fed, anti biotic free, and hormone free animals should be used.
Zucchini: zucchini is high in fiber, and provides an effective cleansing on the entire digestive tract, especially the intestines.
It prevents cancer causing toxins to settle in the colon, and it acts as a mild laxative, and cleans the walls of the colon. The majority of nutrients are found in the skin, so it is best not to remove it.
Ginger: ginger helps produce, saliva, gastric juice, and bile to assist in digestion. As a tea, it’s phenolic compounds like gingerol, and other volatile oils, are the reason why it provides such a beneficial effect on the digestive system.
These are the best foods digestion. You will gain many health benefits by including some or all of these foods in your diet.
Fixing your digestion is the single most important thing you can do for your health. Digestion is foundational for a healthy body.

Have you ever wondered if foods, and habits have an impact on your body’s fat burning? It’s true. You really can have control of fat burning, and conversely, fat storage by the foods you eat. The diet decisions we make will determine whether we burn fat or store fat.
Certain foods and behaviors ignite hormones like leptin that tell your body to either burn fat or store fat.
Behaviors that tell your body to burn fat.
Sleep It is vitally important to our overall health, and fat burning efforts that we get at least 7 hours of restful, uninterrupted sleep per night. Ideally, at least 5 consecutive hours of uninterrupted sleep.
This means not getting up to go to the bathroom, to put the cat out, of for any other reason. Without this sleep, burning fat may not happen. This is also important for our overall health.
You ask if exercise can burn fat or store fat? Lower intensity exercise such as walking, outside or on a treadmill, is good to burn fat.
If it has been a while since you have exercised at all, it is important to start with walking until you build up to a sustainable level, like walking for a half hour to an hour at a time.
You can increase the aerobic benefit of walking by adding hills. Once you have achieved a reasonable level of fitness from walking, you can then add interval training to increase the level of fat burning.
Interval training is short intense periods of exercise with rest in between. In fact, interval training can bring about 4 1/2 times more fat burning than sustained exercise like walking on a treadmill.
Foods that tell your body to burn fat.
Cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, kale, and cabbage, can help liver function, and can lower and balance estrogens that are unhealthy, They contain potassium, and other minerals, and vitamins.
Protein can generate fat burning if you eat less than 6 ounce servings per meal. Some examples are beef, salmon, and eggs.
Your liver must be functioning well or your protein intake should be less. If so, consider detoxing your liver with coffee enemas, and anti-infective herbs.
Foods rich in Potassium
Potassium rich foods allow sugar to be stored as sugar rather than stored as fat.
Sugary foods or foods that convert to sugar will be stored as fat without the presence of potassium.
Potassium is needed to keep blood sugar levels balanced, and to eliminate sugar cravings.
People that have a sweet tooth, are probably deficient in potassium. The RDA, recommended daily allowance of potassium is 4,700 mg., which is the equivalent of 7-10 cups of vegetables.
Fiber, preferably from veggies, can speed up your fat burning metabolism, and decrease or slow your hormones that store fat.
Fat doesn’t burn fat or store fat. Fat neither causes fat storage, or fat burning. It would take a diet of 5% carbs, or carbohydrates, and 70% fat to bring about the fat burning state of ketosis.
Foods that tell your body to store fat
These foods answer the question burn fat or store fat, as store fat.
Grains and Starches
Grains like muffins, breads, cereals, and crackers, and starches, such as rice, and potatoes all trigger an increase in the production of the fat storing hormone insulin.
Fruits contain more sugar than vegetables, and as a result can increase insulin levels, spike blood sugar levels, and decrease the fat burning process.
Fruits do however, contain fiber, which is pro fat burning, so very light intake of some fruits is acceptable, and will have a neutral effect. Check the glycemic index for very low sugar containing fruits.
Sugars (including hidden sugars)
Many foods, especially American foods contain added refined sugar. Always check the label before you buy any food product to be sure it is not high in sugar content.
Beware of juice, deli meats, alcohol, yogurts, and many other processed foods, and drinks.
In the presence of sugar, all 6 hormones that burn fat are negated or rendered ineffective. The worst culprits are brown sugar, table sugar, honey, and syrups.
The exception is wild, raw, untreated, unheated honey. Even this wonderfully delicious, nutritional superstar should be eaten moderately to guard against fat storage.
To make matters worse, if you add a protein like meat or fish to sugars, you can increase fat storage by two times, or 200%.
Too much protein
If you eat more than 9 ounces of protein at a sitting, you will increase the fat storage hormone insulin by double or 200%.
If you can keep your protein intake to 6 ounces or less ideally, you will be able to burn fat instead of store it.
MSG – Monosodium Glutamate
MSG or Monosodium Glutamate, is a flavor enhancer that is designed to increase your appetite. Quite often, MSG is in certain foods, but is hidden as another name on food labels.
Some of the other names for MSG are modified food starch, or natural flavors. MSG can increase the fat storing hormone, insulin by 3 times or 300%.
MSG is also considered an excitotoxin, and can excite nerve, and brain cells to death. Needless to say, avoid this food additive like the plague.
Soy protein isolate, soy protein powder, and soy milk
All three of these soy foods can increase estrogen, and as a result, increase insulin by 300% or three times, and store more fat.
Sprouted soy, and fermented soy like tempeh, tofu, and miso, in small portions is healthier to eat, and won’t store fat.
Too much stress can activate the fat storing hormone known as cortisol. Stress has a cumulative effect on the body, and it’s fat processes.
Inflammation, and pain may also spike cortisol levels. There are many ways to help decrease stress, such as proper sleep, massage, meditation, exercise, vacations from work, and B vitamins.
Learn these hormone triggers, and which foods burn fat, and you will be on your way to a slimmer, healthier you. Which would you rather do, burn fat or store fat?
Fermented foods and fat loss can go hand in hand. Fermented foods have been around for thousands of years as a way to preserve food, and are considered one of the secrets of the ancients for long, healthy lives.
Fermented foods are rich in live, healthy bacteria, and help replenish the loss of live bacteria in our guts, due to anti-biotics, processed food, refined food, and chemicals in our diets.
The live bacteria that fermented foods provide, change the way we digest our food, and absorb nutrients. They also help make the body’s ph more alkaline, and even help burn stored fat with time.
This process has many other benefits. It generates beneficial enzymes, acts as a preservative for the food, makes B vitamins, as well as makes the heralded Omega-3 fatty acids.
It is thought that fermented foods, due to their ability to aid digestion, and absorption of nutrients by providing their own live probiotics, and enzymes, allow our cells to become satiated faster, and signal the brain that we are full sooner.
It is also believed that fermented foods decrease sugar cravings, and by avoiding sugar, we avoid the dreaded blood sugar spikes which slow down our fat burning metabolism, and can allow more fat to be stored in our body’s, instead of being utilized.
Since most of us are subjected to store bought foods, it is advisable to seek out organic, or health food stores to buy your fermented foods.

In my research, I found that there are several Bible foods that reduce fat, and also improve your overall health.
For those of us that are Christians, the authoritative source is the Bible. I became curious to see if the Bible mentions foods that may help in fat loss.
What I found may surprise you as it did me. Hopefully this will encourage you to put some of these Bible foods that reduce fat in your own diet.
1. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar helps dissolve fat due to it’s super strong enzymes. It also excretes the fat right out of your body’s system.
When you drink apple cider vinegar, even in small amounts as 2 tablespoons in water or juice, it quickly breaks up stored fat in cell tissues.
A folk medicine doctor claims that his patients who sipped two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in water with each meal, without any special diets lost up to 100 pounds in one year.
All this without additional exercise or other dieting.
2. Celery, and Celery Seed
Celery won’t by itself provide a dramatic fat loss, but it is well known that this versatile vegetable can help.
When eating celery, you burn more calories in the chewing and digesting of it, than is absorbed by your system. It also contains fiber, which provides a feeling of fullness, that may curb your appetite further.
Celery seed contains a diuretic component, that causes excess water to flush away, which can be a big help to women with water weight gain, and fluid retention.
Charoset is one of the symbolic foods on the Passover Seder Plate.
Charoset is a combination of chopped apples, raisins, and walnuts in a sweet, spiced red wine sauce.
It is thought that the high serotonin content of the walnuts, which make you feel full, is the reason that eating charoset can help control fat levels.
At the very least, eating walnuts can help control food cravings, which, of course, can help you lose fat.
Charoset also has a positive effect on the thyroid gland. The thyroid hormone, thryoxin regulates your body’s energy utilization, and metabolic rate.
As a result, your thyroid hormones affect your ability to generate energy, burn fat, and establish, and maintain a healthy metabolism.
Eating charoset has been shown to increase thyroxin as much as 100%.
More Bible foods that reduce fat.
Wheatgrass helps by speeding up blood circulation, increasing the metabolic rate, and by improving digestive powers.
As a result, more fat is melted in the body, and you receive more nutrition from the food you eat.
In addition to Bible foods that reduce fat there are also Bible herbs that reduce fat.
Dandelion leaf tea is considered one of the finest diuretics known. In ridding the body of fluid retention, it is useful in weight loss, hepatitis( liver disorder ), nephritis( kidney disorder), and cystitis.
It is also useful in clearing up obstructions in the spleen, pancreas, gall bladder, and kidneys. It is also of great benefit to the stomach, and intestines.
Due to elderberry’s diuretic, and detoxifying properties, people lose weight by eating the elderberry. Elderberry is also useful in treating nerve spasms, Sciatica, and Rheumatoid arthritis.
Strong elder flower tea is effective when mixed with yarrow, and peppermint for asthma, colds, and flu.
7. Mustard Greens
Mustard greens are the richest food source of tyrosine, one of the thyroid hormones. They are number one of a list of tyrosine rich foods that also includes cabbage, watercress, spinach, soybeans, peanuts, and oats.
By boosting thyroid hormone levels, you will be able to generate energy, burn fat, and establish, and maintain a healthy metabolism.
Kelp mentioned in Jonah 2:5 as weeds or seaweeds is the richest food source of iodine, the other thyroid hormone.
As with the tyrosine rich foods, kelp will boost thyroid hormone levels, and, as a result, you will be able to generate energy, burn fat, and establish, and maintain a healthy metabolism.
Wine is mentioned throughout the Bible. In fact, it is believed that Jesus himself drank wine. Despite the calorie content in alcohol. 7 calories per gram, the resveratrol in red wine expresses genes that convert white fat into beige fat, and thus increase fat burning.
Although the jury is still out as to whether drinking red wine is a good fat loss strategy by itself, it is now known that if moderation is practiced, drinking red wine will at least not cause weight/fat gain, and may well assist in fat loss.
Organic wine has less alcohol content. Approximately 14% for main stream wines, and about 12% with organic, clean wines. These organic wines, if truly organic will spare you hangovers, and headaches as well.
And because they have much less sugar than ordinary wines, they won’t slow down your fat burning metabolism. So, not only are there bible foods that reduce fat, but also bible drinks that reduce fat.
Among the many bible foods that reduce fat, are many passages that are related to food, and what God’s will is for us regarding food.
1 Corinthians 10:31 “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
5. Romans 12:1 Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice–alive, holy, and pleasing to God–which is your reasonable service.
Genesis 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
4 Nevertheless, among those that chew the cud or part the hoof, you shall not eat these: The camel, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.5 And the rock badger, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.6 And the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is unclean to you.7 And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.8 You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.
9 “These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat.10 But anything in the seas or the rivers that does not have fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you.11 You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.12 Everything in the waters that does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.
13 “And these you shall detest among the birds;[a] they shall not be eaten; they are detestable: the eagle,[b] the bearded vulture, the black vulture,14 the kite, the falcon of any kind,15 every raven of any kind,16 the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind,17 the little owl, the cormorant, the short-eared owl,18 the barn owl, the tawny owl, the carrion vulture,19 the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.
20 “All winged insects that go on all fours are detestable to you.21 Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs above their feet, with which to hop on the ground.22 Of them you may eat: the locust of any kind, the bald locust of any kind, the cricket of any kind, and the grasshopper of any kind.23 But all other winged insects that have four feet are detestable to you.
24 “And by these you shall become unclean. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening,25 and whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening.26 Every animal that parts the hoof but is not cloven-footed or does not chew the cud is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.27 And all that walk on their paws, among the animals that go on all fours, are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening,28 and he who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening; they are unclean to you.
29 “And these are unclean to you among the swarming things that swarm on the ground: the mole rat, the mouse, the great lizard of any kind,30 the gecko, the monitor lizard, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.31 These are unclean to you among all that swarm. Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until the evening.32 And anything on which any of them falls when they are dead shall be unclean, whether it is an article of wood or a garment or a skin or a sack, any article that is used for any purpose. It must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it shall be clean.33 And if any of them falls into any earthenware vessel, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it.34 Any food in it that could be eaten, on which water comes, shall be unclean. And all drink that could be drunk from every such vessel shall be unclean.35 And everything on which any part of their carcass falls shall be unclean. Whether oven or stove, it shall be broken in pieces. They are unclean and shall remain unclean for you.36 Nevertheless, a spring or a cistern holding water shall be clean, but whoever touches a carcass in them shall be unclean.37 And if any part of their carcass falls upon any seed grain that is to be sown, it is clean,38 but if water is put on the seed and any part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.
39 “And if any animal which you may eat dies, whoever touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening,40 and whoever eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening. And whoever carries the carcass shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the evening.
41 “Every swarming thing that swarms on the ground is detestable; it shall not be eaten.42 Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, any swarming thing that swarms on the ground, you shall not eat, for they are detestable.43 You shall not make yourselves detestable with any swarming thing that swarms, and you shall not defile yourselves with them, and become unclean through them.44 For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. You shall not defile yourselves with any swarming thing that crawls on the ground.
As you can see, the bible has much to say about what we should, and should not eat, and also tells us the bible foods that reduce fat.
Bible foods that reduce fat are readily accessible both in print in the Bible, on the internet, and in retail stores.
The Bible is a great resource for all areas of our lives. I like to turn to it for many things to help guide me to strive to achieve a fulfilling, purposeful life.

Cooked foods vs raw foods. Which is better? Does cooking my food make it unhealthy? Is it better to eat raw, uncooked foods? Is there a healthy way to cook foods?
The importance of eliminating fat from our bodies cannot be over stated. Even one pound of excess fat can lead to chronic inflammation, which can lead to cancers, and other problems.
So, it is more than just looking great in a swim suit, it is vital for our health, longevity, and quality of life to lose the excess fat.
In today’s world, there are millions in advertising money spent to promote fast food chains, grocery store chains, and restaurants, and the unhealthy foods they provide.
Add in media hype, and it is difficult to determine if eating cooked foods has a negative effect on our fat loss, and overall weight loss goals, or not.
How does eating these foods affect my overall health?
And, of course, there is never any mention of how eating these foods could effect our overall health. Certainly the message from these folks is, don’t worry about it, if it tastes good, it can’t be bad for you.
The unfortunate truth is, it can, and is bad for us to eat cooked foods, both from a fat loss/weight loss perspective, as well as an overall health perspective.
If you must cook your food, steaming vegetables, and meats are the least harmful ways to go about it. Keep in mind though that anytime you heat food, you destroy it’s beneficial constituents.
We start out with 30 million methyl groups. By eating cooked foods without a digestive aid, such as pancreatic enzymes, or by not adding hydrochloric acid we lose 1800 methyl groups per day, and by eating raw, or uncooked foods, we lose 1200 methyl groups per day.
Food cooked beyond the boiling point speeds up demethylation. Demethylation is considered one of the main ways in which we age.
It is a consensus among longevity experts that methyl groups determine aging. So, by eating cooked foods, we are effectively losing up to one third of our lifespan.
Eating raw foods or uncooked foods, on the other hand, have their nutritional components, and enzymes in tact, so your cells become satiated more quickly, and signal the brain that you are full, which then makes it easier to stop eating.
I am not a fan of GMO, genetically modified fruits, and vegetables. I recommend eating non GMO foods to the extent possible.
It is better to eat organic foods. By eating organic, you are more likely to get the nutrition that the food was designed to provide.
You can avoid most, if not all of the pesticides, chemicals, waxes, artificial colors, and dyes that are prevalent in non organic foods.
So, by eating non organic, not only are you not getting the nutrition you need now, but you are also setting yourself up for more health issues down the road.
In the year 1900, only 4% of the U.S. population was chronically ill.
Today, it is estimated that over 53% of us have some type of chronic illness.
The Standard American Diet, SAD, is mostly responsible for this fact.
How is it possible that our ancestors spent 10-14 hours a day in the sun, yet skin cancer was unheard of until we began adulterating our food?
Skin cancer, it is now known, is caused primarily by bad oils in our diet.
Changing our diet is within our control, and it is the biggest factor, by far, in determining whether we live we live a long, fit, healthy life, or whether we live shorter, pain filled, unpleasant lives.
Certainly other factors are involved too, such as what we drink, the quality of the air we breath, exposure to chemicals, how we handle stress, and to a lesser extent genetics.
The human genome project found that less than 1/2 of 1 percent of all diseases have a genetic predisposition at it’s core.
I bring this up because a lot of us like to use genetics as an excuse why we aren’t well, or can’t get well.
The truth is, more likely that we are exhibiting negative learned behaviors that have been passed down in our families for generations.
No more excuses. It is up to us to change our habits, and change our lives for the better.
Cooked foods vs raw foods? The answer is clearly raw foods. The more raw, organic, fresh, uncooked foods we eat, and the less cooked foods we eat, the healthier we’ll be.
