Brain Memory Supplements

Brain Memory Supplements

Brain memory supplements
Our brains function well when we feed it the nutrition it needs

Brain memory supplements are needed now more than ever. Have you ever walked into a room and forgot why you were there?

Have you ever met someone, they told you their name, and 5 seconds later you forgot what it was?

(Scroll down for supplements)

Do you find it more difficult to recall facts, figures, dates, etc. that you used to be able to recall easily?

Is it more difficult to comprehend what you read than it used to be? Is it harder to learn the rules of a new game or the processes of a new work system than it used to be for you?

Most of us have seen first hand the unfortunate circumstances surrounding dementia, and Alzheimers disease. I have seen relatives, and friends that have been the victim of these cruel, and quality-of-life stealing conditions.

Not only is it difficult and devastating for the patients, but it is also difficult for the family members, and care takers.

The medical establishment today are much more concerned about symptoms of these issues than causes. In fact, my experience, and exposure to medical professionals that treat memory problems is that they aren’t concerned at all about causation.

They prescribe drugs for these conditions like candy. I am not saying that some of these drugs are not helpful to manage the conditions, but none of these drugs address the underlying causes or reasons that the memory patient is in the state they are in.

There is little or any belief or thought that these conditions may be reversed, or at least lessened, and may be caused due to exposure to chemicals, pollutants, and contaminants that people encounter every day in our food, water, and environment.

It is my belief that these very things are at the root of brain issues such as memory, and cognition, as well as many other chronic medical conditions that are so prevalent in today’s world.

Our diets are devoid of nutrition due to the processing, refinement, preservatives, chemicals, hormones, anti-biotics, and other adulteration of our food.  Not to mention over farming which depletes soils of nutrients.

Plus herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals that are generously applied to the crops that we are subjected to. As if that wasn’t enough we also have to contend with the chlorine, flouride, and other harsh contaminants in our municiply treated water.

As a result of all of this adulteration of our food and water, we are unable to send adequate vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients to the cells of our organs, glands, tissues, and muscles, as well as to our brains so that we can function in a healthy state.

Brain memory supplements
Many diet sodas contain aspartame, an excitotoxin that can excite brain cells to death

The ubiquitous artificial sweetener aspartame is an excitotoxin that excites brain, and nerve cells to death.

You find aspartame in many soft drinks and other foods.

(Scroll down for supplements)

MSG, monosodium glutomate, which is a flavor enhancer, and is in many foods, and is a favorite food additive of restaurants, is also an excitotoxin.

On top of all of this, as we age, we lose the hydrochloric acid in our stomachs at a fast rate so that by the time we reach the age of 75 we have virtually none.

Hydrochloric acid or HCL is vital in the digestion, and assimilation or our food. It also kills parasites, and other pathogens in our food, that if allowed to survive can and do wreak havoc on our internal bodily systems.

Aging, and eating cooked food also causes use to expend our digestive enzymes that catalyze our ability to absorb our food.

Digestive enzymes are like like the motor that powers a boat across a lake. Without them, it is like being forced to row a boat across a large lake to reach our destination.

We are also subjected to health destroying environmental concerns like EMF’s, electro magnetic fields, and detrimental personal products like deodorants that contain known brain harming agents like aluminum.

What about genetics? Am I likely to get dementia or alzheimers if my father or mother or both suffered from it? The answer is, if you followed your parents diet and lifestyle throughout your life then likely yes, you will have it at some point.

But, it won’t be from genetics, almost certainly. The Human Genome project recently discovered during their mapping of the human genome that less than 1/2 of one percent of all diseases are from a genetic cause or predisposition.

That means that you have a 99.5% chance of it not being from genetics. The reason so many children have the same diseases and health issues as their parents is due to learned diets and lifestyle.  This is good news.

It means that if you can change your diet and lifestyle to a healthy one, and add brain memory supplements you have a very good chance of not suffering these debilitating health issues as you age.

It is quite apparent that unless we are extremely vigilant, it is difficult for us to get the needed nutrition from our food and water.

We must supplement with live source nutrients, our cells communicate via a body of light, in order to compensate for our diet, water, and environment.

The brain memory supplements below are all organic, free of chemicals, additives, and toxic tagalongs.  They contain nothing artificial.

How to Drink Water

How to Drink Water

How to drink water
Drinking water is vital to our good health

Our bodies are made up of between 60% – 78% water.  As newborns we have the largest water content, and as grown adults we have somewhat less.  Learning how to drink water can affect your quality of life.

We drink it, bathe in it, cook with it, swim in it, and use it to irrigate our plants, gardens, and fields.

We all know the importance of drinking water, of staying hydrated. If not, you should know that drinking water is one of the most important things we need for our health, and longevity. How to drink water correctly is vital to our health and longevity.

Not only just drinking water, but also the right kind of water, and in the right amounts.

Sourcing our water from a mountain spring is ideal in that it is pure, and also contains some beneficial minerals.

Even springs from non-mountainous areas can be an excellent source of water.  Well water is also a very good source of pure or relatively pure water.

Well water is quite pure and does also contain minerals. It is best to test your well water first though to be sure it has acceptable levels of minerals, and does not contain contaminants.

Rain water is another good source of pure water that normally does not require filtration. Strangely though, in certain areas in the U.S. it is illegal for citizens to harness, and utilize rain water for consumption.

How We Benefit from Water

  • Water makes up the largest capacity of most parts of the body
  • Regulates temperature of the body – respiration and sweating
  • Used by the brain to make neurotransmitters, and hormones
  • Creates saliva which aids in digestion
  • Transforms food to useable parts needed to survive by aiding in digestion
  • Makes it possible for the body’s cells, to reproduce, grow, and live
  • Aids in delivering oxygen throughout the body
  • Keeps joints lubricated
  • Works as a shock absorber for spinal chord and brain
  • Flushes the body’s waste primarily in the urine
  • Maintains moisture of mucous membranes

Is Tap Water Safe?

How to drink water
Is tap water safe to drink?

The tap water we have in the United States is regulated by the EPA, Environmental Protection Agency, which has regulations on over 90 known water contaminants.

Despite this regulation dangerous contaminants like chromium-6, lead, flourine, arsenic, bacteria, chloroform and others are appearing in many American’s tap water in levels above what the EPA considers safe.

These contaminants can cause a myriad of health issues, such as cancer, asthma, reproductive and developmental problems, behavior and learning difficulties, anemia, kidney damage, brain damage, and at high levels can cause seizures, coma, and even death.

There is also concern that some pharmaceutical drugs that were flushed down toilets have made their way back into our drinking water.

Low levels have been detected of various drugs such as anti biotics, and even birth control pills among others in some treated water.

Experts insist that these levels are negligible, but to me, any amounts of these drugs in my drinking water is concerning.

Chlorine is added to our water in order to kill viruses, parasites, and bacteria. Fluoride is also added to the water to prevent tooth decay. Unfortunately chlorine and it’s by products have been linked to asthma, and cancers.

One positive about chlorine is that it eventually evaporates. Unfortunately, I can often smell and taste chlorine in my unfiltered tap, and shower water.

Fluoride is a toxic chemical that is somewhere between arsenic and lead on the scale of toxicity. It is a highly caustic industrial chemical. Flouride is the active toxin in roach powders, and rat poison.

Fluoride has been linked to cancer, degeneration of muscles, osteoporosis, autoimmune disorders, and others.

Flouride does not evaporate, and digestion does not eliminate it. Flouride finds a home in our fat cells where it accumulates.

Best Water Filters

How to drink water
Is drinking bottled water a safe, healthy method?

Since we have clearly established that our tap water is potentially toxic, and tastes and smells less than good(ok bad), we know that we should filter the water coming into the house, or at least buy water that has been filtered.

But which filter or filters should I use, you may be asking? After all, there are different types of water filters. There are charcoal filters, reverse osmosis filters, and distilled water filter systems, among others. Then, of course, there is bottled water.

Bottled Water   Bottled water has become more popular, and is consumed more than ever before.  If you are drinking bottled water, you should be commended for trying to do the right, healthy thing by drinking filtered water.

However, drinking bottled water may be more detrimental than positive. First of all, the cost of bottled water is MUCH higher than the cost of filtered tap water.

Bottled water in a store can be as much as $2.00 for 12 ounces. Water filtered from the tap typically ranges in the penny to ten cents a glass range for the same amout of water.

Secondly, due to the fact that bottled water is in plastic bottles, there is the possibility of harmful plastic by-products leaching into your drinking water.

Thirdly, the waste that plastic bottles cause are very often a serious burden to the environment.

Fourthly, packs of bottled water are heavy to lug from the store to the car, car to the house, and house to the refrigerator. Not to mention all of the space they take up.

How to drink water
Reverse osmosis water filter

Reverse Osmosis Water Filters

Reverse Osmosis Filters utilize a system of introducing water into a high pressure system that is sent through a semipermeable membrane or filter.

This powerful system is very effective at removing virtually all contaminants in the water. It also removes all of the nutrients in the water such as any vitamins, and minerals.

The fact that it also removes all of the vitamins and minerals is not however a concern as most water that we are subjected to contains very few of these beneficial nutrients anyway.

We should be looking to receive the nutrition we need from the food we eat, and with supplements. Now that’s how to drink water.

How to drink water
Charcoal tap water filter systems remove most contaminants

Charcoal Water Filters

Perhaps the most common water filters you will come across are those made with activated charcoal. Although catalytic, and activated carbon filters are normally successful at removing heavy metals, chloramine, and hydrogen sulfide, they are not consistently effective in negating inorganic impurities that are dissolved, or with metals like copper, minerals, and salts.

Activated charcoal/carbon works by catalytic reduction or absorption to eliminate contaminants. Activated charcoal filters do an excellent job of removing chlorine, smells, and taste.

Some water filters utilize multiple charcoal containing canisters in series in order to intensify the filtration process.

Reverse osmosis water filters, and distilled water filters do a more thorough job of filtering out most all contaminants.

The most common carbon water filters are either PAC, powder activated carbon, or GAC, granulated activated carbon.

How to drink water
Distilled water is an excellent health water filtration choice

Distilling water is another common way to filter out the vast majority of the contaminants in typical tap water.  Distillation works by heating tap or other types of unfiltered water to boiling.  The resulting steam is then captured and sent to a condenser where it is then cooled and turned back into water.

This cooled water is now purified, and free from the vast majority of contaminants. Distillation thoroughly removes dissolved solids from the water, and in addition, when we drink it, has the capability of removing inorganic materials in our bodies which may be harmful to us.

Distillers are not filters, but rather devices or appliances that treat water once it is collected. Distilled water is considered among the purest due to it’s extraordinary ability to remove dissolved solids from water.

Faucet Filters

How to drink water
All living things thrive on clean water

Faucet filters, also known as point of use filters are an extremely popular form of water filtration. These filters are placed on or near a kitchen or bathroom faucet, and filter the water as it comes into and out of faucet.

Point of use filters can also be placed under the sink in order to filter the water going to the faucet directly above.

These filters often utilize charcoal or carbon to help clear the water of contaminants, and have replaceable internal filters that can be replaced after a period of use.

Reverse Osmosis, and Distiller filters are also often used in these point of use filter applications. Now that’s how to drink water.

Shower Water Filters

How to drink water
Shower filters protect us from absorbing contaminants through our skin

Although we may not realize it, most of us absorb more chlorine, it’s harmful by products, and other toxic chemicals through the shower water than through drinking chlorinated water from the tap.

In addition the warmer water from the shower tends to make absorbing chlorine easier as the warm air can expand the lungs. Tests have revealed that we absorb more than 60% of our total chlorine through unfilitered shower, and bath water.

This coupled with the fact that we may shower for a longer period of time and are exposed to more areas of the body sets the stage for maximum chlorine absorption.  The chlorine also escapes into the air and into other areas of the house making further inhalation, and ingestion more likely.

This unfiltered chlorinated shower water has also shown to be harmful to the health of our skin, hair, and even our mucous membranes, although we may not realize it.  Shower filters are useful in filtering out chlorine, and VOC’s or volatile organic compounds in our water.

Whole House Water Filters

How to drink water
A whole house water filter system cleans the water for every tap

We know that municipal water system treatment plants add chlorine to destroy many pathogens. Flouride is also a problematic, toxic substance that is often added to this water.

A great way to be sure that all of your household water taps are treated without having to worry about having filters on each tap or close by to treat or filter your water is with a whole house water filter.

Not to mention it will eliminate the need to buy, and dispose of bottled water.  Another great benefit of having a whole house filter, is it will help keep the air in your home much cleaner due to the elimination of dangerous gases like chlorine that are present in standing water such as in the toilet bowl.

Whole house filters can be Reverse Osmosis, or Charcoal type filters. As these filters are placed on your water supply that just comes into the house from the main, they are required to filter larger volumes of water.

water filter by

As a result these filters are larger, and more expensive than those other point of use filters, such as those on your kitchen faucet.

But, because it can be the only filter you need for the entire home, your costs may not be much more than if you bought numerous other filters, or regularly purchase bottled water at the store.

One negative with a whole house filter compared with point of use filters, is that it will not filter out water that travels from itself to the points of use.

Depending on the types and condition of your pipes in your house, you may pick up some contaminants in the last leg of the water’s journey.

Garden Water Filters

How to drink water
Garden filters remove contaminants for your vegetables

It is now possible for gardeners to filter the municipal water that has been their only additional water option other than rain water to irrigate their gardens.

Heavily chlorinated water can kill microorganisms in the soil that are there to protect the plant and its food source.  Garden water filters can eliminate 85% of the chlorine that is present in municipal water.

The garden water filter works by converting free chlorine to a harmless chloride. Its components of copper and zinc works on the method of electrochemical oxidation reduction.

These outdoor inline faucet filters also provide protection for bathing pets,  summer time kid sprinkler activities, and for washing cars.

Filters are a Must

How to drink water
Pitcher water filters clean water as you use it

Water is an irreplaceable part of our lives, and our good health. Our bodies are made up of between 60% to78% water from newborn babies to adult males.

We drink it, bathe in it, cook with it, swim in it, and use it to irrigate our plants, gardens, and fields. We benefit from water in many different ways.

Unless you have access to clean water from a mountain spring, other natural spring, a well, or can use rainwater, it is a must to filter your water.

Chlorine, flouride, volatile organic compounds, and other dissolved solids are present in municipal treated water that most of us are subjected to.

Chlorine is added to our water in order to kill viruses, parasites, and bacteria. Fluoride is also added to the water to prevent tooth decay.

Unfortunately, these and other contaminants are linked to diseases such as cancer, osteoporosis, asthma, autoimmune diseases, and others.

There are many ways to filter water including charcoal or carbon filters, reverse osmosis filters, distilled water systems, and bottled water.

Reverse osmosis, and distillers are considered the most effective at removing all contaminants. The different types of filters available include point of use or faucet filters, shower filters, whole house filters, and garden filters.

There are also portable water filters, including pitcher filters, straw water filters, and others that allow for filtering of water while at home or away.

If you are unsure of what filter to use for your home or application, you should know that any filter is better than no filter.

Compare features and prices of the various filters here to determine what water filter is right for you.

Top Vitamin Supplements

Top Vitamin Supplements

top vitamin supplements
The best vitamin supplements are live source nutrients

In today’s world, it has become more popular and more important than ever to take top vitamin supplements. But, is it really necessary?

Can’t I just get my nutrition from my food? Which supplements should I take I hear you asking?

(Scroll to bottom for top vitamin supplements)

How do I know they are really working and doing me some good? Which supplement companies can I trust? Is there a difference between synthetic vitamins/supplements, and natural ones?

What is the best form to take supplements?

I will answer all of these questions for you, and more.  You will soon  know the top vitamin supplements.

Do I Need to Take Supplements?

Top vitamin supplements
We no longer get the nutrients we need from our food due to pesticides and over farming

You may have wondered, as I have, if enough nutrition can be had from the food you eat. If so, it may not be necessary to take supplements.

At one time it was true that enough nutrition could be extracted from our food. This was possible some 100 years ago.

Healthy Living Catalog

People used to grow their own food, raise their own livestock, and/or hunt and gather for their subsistence. A mass migration from the country to the cities brought about a need to adulterate and preserve food in order to transport and maintain it.

In the last 90-100 years, we have begun to process, refine, add chemicals, preservatives, and other non food ingredients to our food to meet the demands of those that could no longer create their own food.

In addition it was determined that by adding pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals to the crops that the yields could increase.

This practice, and over farming led to a depletion of soil minerals which rendered much of the crops devoid of their vitamins and minerals.

Add to this scenario that relatively recent addition of GMO, or genetically modified crops, and our food has become woefully deficient in nutrtitional value.

Even the livestock, cattle, pigs, and chickens have been exploited. It was discovered that keeping the animals penned up,adding hormones to their feed, and injecting anti biotics into them that they could grow fatter, and fewer animals would be lost to diseases.

This, of course, brings higher prices at the market, and makes more money for the farmers/ranchers.

It is possible now to buy organic, and free range meat. However, much of the organic produce has been irrigated by chemical laden tap or ‘city’ water which makes it far less wholesome, and is normally considerably more expensive than the standard produce.

Ideally you want to irrigate by dry farming (rainwater only) or with well water.

Another major negative to our food is our obsession with eating cooked food. We were engineered to eat raw food.

Cooking food destroys most if not all of the nutrition positive ingredients in the food rendering it, at best neutral. (won’t do us any good, but may not do us any harm)

Frying our food in oil, yes, any oil is very unhealthy. Heating oil changes it’s molecular structure, and brings it from something possibly good for us, to something quite bad for us.

These bad oils, and other oils that are ubiquitous in our food, are blamed for much of the skin cancer that is so prevalent in our society today.

I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that we are not getting anywhere near the nutrition we need from our food. In fact, it is safe to also say that most of the food we eat will do us more harm than good.

Does Synthetic or Natural Vitamins Matter?

Top vitamin supplements
Synthetic vitamins may cause more harm than good

Since we are not getting near enough nutrition from our food, taking supplements has become more important than ever for us.

But, which supplements should I take? The first thing we need to understand about supplements is that they are not all created equally.

A study from the Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association found that 97% of vitamin and mineral supplements  being offered in so called health food stores are ineffective, toxic or both.

Further studies have indicated that low quality supplements can and have lead to hormone imbalances, high blood pressure, liver failure, and even the dreaded heart attacks.

Healthy Living Catalog

Another supplement study found that 60% of supplements analyzed for their active ingredients simply did not contain what was described on the label.

In another random sample of 44 herbal supplements 33% were found to contain no trace of the plant that was advertised on the exterior of the bottle.

Over 95% of vitamins for sale today are synthetic (man made). That means that only less than 5% of vitamins come from natural sources.

And, as I stated earlier, about one third of vitamins that call themselves natural vitamins are misrepresented, and devoid of any nutritional value.

Synthetic vitamins are made to copy natural or real vitamins. Synthetic vitamins are lacking in co-factors, enzymes, and other transporters that natural vitamins have.

They are normally either stored by the body in a nonusable form, or excreted.

These so-called vitamins are also often loaded up with chemicals, fillers, glues, talc, and other toxic tagalongs to ensure that not only will you get very little if any benefit, but could well cause you added health problems with their continued use.

To sum it up, if you walk into a vitamin store today, or go online to buy vitamins, your odds of purchasing anything that could do you good without doing you any harm is about one in a hundred. That’s 1%.

That figure may be a bit higher if you figure in the placebo effect. The placebo effect is defined as, if you believe that something will help you, it will.

Delicious Wines – No Hangovers, No Headaches

A good example of the placebo effect is when we have the flu virus, the allopathic doctor will usually prescribe an anti-biotic to combat it.

In a test tube, an anti-biotic is useless against a virus. Yet, it often works when taken because the belief is there.

Are There Supplements Worth Taking?

Top vitamin supplements
Raw, organic fruits and vegetables contain the most nutrition

We know that the natural form is clearly superior than the synthetic form of vitamins. But if these vitamin manufacturers/companies can pretty much put anything in the bottle, how do I know it is legitimate?

Truth is, you really don’t know how legitimate the company or the product is. You can safely assume that product is effectively useless.

Thankfully to every rule there is an exception. What you want are live source vitamins, minerals, oils, and other supplements.

You want exquisitely well grown plants in ground that has never seen a chemical or a pesticide. You want the ground to be lightly farmed, or never farmed.

If irrigated, it should be from pure well water, or from rain water. No tap, or city water should ever be used due to it’s toxic, chemical content.

(Scroll to bottom for top vitamin supplements)

You also want a supplement that is meticulously cared from from the moment of conception to consumption: growing, harvesting, encapsulation, bottling and delivery to you.

The Cellular Resonance Effect

Exciting research over the last 15 years has suggested that the outer membrane structure of every cell in your body is a unique, semi-crystalline matrix.

This means that every one of the trillion plus cells in your body may have an ideal resonant frequency, much like a crystal glass that rings its own special note when struck.

The Harmonic Resonance Effect

The consequences of this stunning theory of resonant frequencies is enormous. It is a secret key that unlocks the hidden door to why some people can quickly shift to great health – and others can’t.

This discovery may answer why the ideal resonant frequency of each cell may only respond to certain nutrients.

The “Body of Light”

Ground-breaking experiments by German biophysicist Dr. Fritz-Albert Popp of the University of Kaiserlautern and others have demonstrated a release of “light” emanates from healthy cells, which is not normally visible to the naked eye but easily quantified by highly sophisticated German optical equipment.

Falling Out of Cellular Harmony

Consuming nutrients that are synthetic or that have degraded resonant frequencies (from nutrients that have been poorly grown, pesticided, contaminated with chemical additives, etc.) may dampen your own cell’s resonant frequency.

Obviously, for best health, the answer would be to consume quantum-state nutrients that have a “body of light”– without the junk (no toxic tagalongs such as stearates).

Earthing and Grounding

Earthing and Grounding

Earthing and Grounding
Earthing and grounding have been around since man first walked on the earth

Earthing and grounding is a relatively new natural health phenomena that has been around as long as men and women have walked on the earth.

Let me explain this contradictory statement. Since the advent of shoes or footwear, humans have no longer been in contact with the earth when they walk, unless of course they go barefoot.

It was not until approximately 15 years ago that it was discovered that the earth provides electrons or anti-oxidants when in direct contact  or grounding contact with it.

This amazing discovery, or rediscovery if you will, can have a profoundly positive effect on your health and well being.

I will describe what earthing and grounding is, how it works, how you benefit from earthing and grounding, the best ways to take advantage of it, and what earthing products are available.

What is Earthing and Grounding

Earthing and grounding
Walking barefoot on the beach is a common way of earthing

Earthing or grounding is described as a fast growing activity that allows you to tap into the earth’s natural energy, in order to improve health and wellness.

The main method used in earthing is to walk barefoot on the earth or ground surface for a period of time.  Earthing is the process of absorbing the earth’s free flowing electrons into and through your body.

This is normally accomplished by simply walking barefoot for at least 5 minutes at a time, touching the earth with your hands also for at least 5 minutes at a time, or by using a sleeping sheet while sleeping, or a grounding mat while sitting or standing indoors.

Due to the ubiquitous diseases and chronic inflammation of today, grounding yourself to the earth, as well as from indoors can provide a simple, natural road to less pain, better overall health, deeper sleep, and increased energy.

How Earthing and Grounding Work

Earthing and grounding
Earthing works by tapping into the grounds free flow of electrons

Earthing and grounding works by tapping into the free flow of electrons from the earth. Our ancestors walked barefoot or used animal skins for their feet providing direct contact with the earth.

Since the invention of synthetic footwear, we have lost the direct contact with the earth, and, as a result, unknowingly, we have also lost the earth’s limitless array of health benefits.

Possibly the easiest way to understand how this works is if you know about free radicals, and anti oxidants, by earthing or grounding yourself, your body absorbs these anti oxidants from the earth which quench the free radicals that are running rampant in your body.

These free radicals damage our cells, and this leads to much, if not all of the chronic disease that we as humans have had to endure.

In fact, today over 53% of Americans are chronically ill. Compare this statistic with only 4% of Americans being chronically ill at the turn of the last century, 1900.  Is it coincidence that our ancestors spent 10-12 hours a day outside, and often in contact with the earth?

You don’t need to spend 10-12 hours a day running around barefoot to benefit from earthing and grounding. It is thought that any amount of time in direct contact with the earth will provide you with positive results. The more time you spend at it, however, the better.

This process of ridding your body of free radicals by adding anti oxidants has a profoundly positive effect on your health.

Earthing and grounding can also be achieved indoors with the use of a special grounding sheet that can be placed on a bed or other surface used for sleeping.

This special designed sheet has a connected wire that is plugged into the grounding receptacle of a three pronged electrical wall outlet or other three pronged electrical outlet such as an  electrical strip.

This connection runs through to the outside to the grounding rod that is inserted into the ground.  This connection achieves the same effect as grounding oneself with their barefeet or hands to the earth.

Other indoor earthing and grounding methods are mats that have the same connection as the sleeping sheet, and can be used while sitting, or standing, or even as a mouse pad.

These indoor devices are very useful especially during cold weather months when going barefoot outside is not practical.

There is also a grounding wristband that can worn so that you are continually grounded. This can restrict movement, and is best used while you are at a computer or somewhere that you don’t need a great deal of freedom of movement.

There are now earthing shoes that are available that can be worn to give your feet protection while also grounding with the earth.

How You Benefit from Earthing and Grounding

Earthing and grounding
Any part of body touching the earth is considered earthing

Earthing and grounding can have many health benefits. Certainly the most profound, and impactful health benefit is a reduction, and/or eradication of inflammation and chronic pain.

This pain can be caused by arthritis, fibromyalgia, and many other issues, and all these conditions can be helped by this simple process.

In fact, it is now known that inflammation is at the core of most serious chronic conditions and diseases. These include cancer, diabetes, heart disease, neurological diseases, pulmonary diseases, alzheimers disease, as well as arthritis, and auto immune diseases.

Free radicals, inflammation, and rouleaux formation(thickening of blood cells) are the primary causes for the known diseases. Earthing and grounding can improve all of these causes.

Earthing has also been shown to be beneficial for sleep problems. People that are earthing say that they sleep more soundly, more consistently, and go off to sleep more easily than before.

As a result, they wake up feeling more refreshed, and energetic.  Some earthers have also said that they don’t require as much sleep as before in order to feel like their sleep needs have been satisfied.

Suffice it to say that practically all diseases, and other health issues can be helped by earthing and grounding.

Best Ways to Take Advantage of Earthing and Grounding

Earthing and grounding
Gardening is another good way to earth

The best ways to take advantage of earthing and grounding are simply to get outside and kick your shoes off. If you’ve been thinking about starting a garden, do it.

Gardening will have you touching the earth a good deal. Doing so will allow you to take advantage of the earth’s energy, assuming of course you don’t wear gloves or shoes the entire time.

If you are a golfer, play a hole or two a round barefoot. Your playing partners may think you a bit strange by doing so, but once you explain why you are doing it, don’t be surprised if they join right in with you.

Use your imagination. If you take your dog or your kids to the park, spend part of the time walking barefoot (but watch out for those tootsie rolls). Even at work, if you have an outdoor area that you can take breaks, or lunch, you can do some earthing.

Even touching trees, bushes, and plants will give you the earthing effect. (Be sure you know what you are touching, however) If you have a beach near your home, you have an ideal way to connect with the earth. No wonder beaches are so popular.

Earthing and grounding is free or very low cost, it is available to you almost anywhere, and it is very easy to do.

Of course some of us live in areas that going outdoors to connect with the earth is impractical for at least several months of the year.

The good news is, there are now several excellent ways to get your earthing and grounding in from the comfort of your home or office.

Best Sleep Aid for Insomnia
Insomnia is a widespread issue

What is the best sleep aid for insomnia? If you suffer from insomnia, you are not alone. There are more than 3 million new, reported cased of insomnia each year in the United States alone.

These are just the reported cases. The actual number is likely much higher. It is estimated that some 35 million Americans suffer from chronic insomnia.

Insomnia, also known as sleeplessness, is a sleep disorder where people experience difficulty sleeping. They may have trouble getting off to sleep, or staying asleep as long as needed or desired.

Also, waking early, and not being able to get back to sleep is a common insomnia complaint.

Those with insomnia, also called insomniacs, may express dissatisfaction with their sleep, and usually have these symptoms: low energy levels, fatigue, concentration difficulties, moodiness, feeling sleepy during the day, anxiety, stress, and performance issues at work or school.

I will explain why sleep is so important to your health, what causes insomnia, the best ways to treat, and overcome insomnia, and the best natural products available to treat, and help eliminate insomnia. (scroll to bottom)

Why we need sleep

We need a minimum of 5 straight, uninterrupted hours of sleep per night. This means not getting up to go to the bathroom, or to let the cat out or in, to get a snack, or for any other reason. Ideally we need 7 to 8 hours of total sleep per night.

Without 5 straight uninterrupted hours of sleep, we make less than 30% of the adrenaline needed to provide energy for us during the day.

Many of us turn to coffee to provide the needed boost. Coffee, unfortunately can flog the adrenal glands, compounding the issue of insomnia.

As adults, we need 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night in order to to repair our bodily tissue, grow muscle, and for hormone synthesis. Sleep is also needed in order to help our brains to process, and store information.

The strength of our immune systems are also dependent on adequate sleep. Without adequate sleep we are more prone to invasion of viruses, and other infections.

What Causes Insomnia

Best sleep aid for insomnia
In TCM, sleep and the gall bladder go hand in hand

There are many causes of insomnia. One of the most common, and most overlooked causes is with the gallbladder.  In TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, sleep and the gallbladder go hand in hand. Many times, a simple gallbladder detox, or cleanse can alleviate sleep problems.

Gallbladder issues are normally due to a diet of processed foods, refined foods, fried foods, and fatty meats.

Switching to a more raw, organic, plant based diet can help the entire body going forward.

Other insomnia causes are:

  • Pain-inflammation
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Hormonal Imbalance – may be liver related
  • Poor Digestion – Eating too late at night prior to sleeping
  • Caffeine – Drinking caffeine drinks like coffee too late in the day
  • Urination frequency – can be caused by prostate problems in men
  • Sleep apnea – breathing issues while sleeping
  • Circadian Rythym Disruption – Sleep/Wake cycles(often initiated by travel or a change in schedule)
  • Prescription, and Over the Counter Medications, and their side effects.

Insomnia can be caused by a single factor, or a combination of factors.

Stop the Behaviors that Cause Insomnia

There are many ways to treat, and overcome insomnia. You should look for and address the behaviors that may be causing the problem.

The easiest, and simplest solutions are to eliminate the bad habits or behaviors that may be at the heart of the problem. For instance, if you eat late at night, you should stop. Food should not be eaten past 7 p.m. in the evening.

Your body needs to fully digest any food before it will allow you to sleep. To compound the problem, most people have diminshed levels of HCL, hydrochloric acid. These levels decrease as we age. Lower levels of HCL make it more difficult to fully digest food.

If you find that you have to get up during the night to urinate, and you have eliminated the possibility of a prostate problem, you should also limit the amount of water or other beverage that you drink late at night.

Although I am a big proponent of staying hydrated, if you have trouble sleeping, you should eliminate drinks of any kind after 7 p.m.

Many people, myself included, enjoy drinking coffee during the day. The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant, and if taken too late in the day, may make it difficult to go off to sleep at night.

Ideally, you don’t want to ingest caffeine past noon during the day.  Coffee is also a diuretic which can increase the frequency of urination.

You may be able to go later in the day before stopping the caffeine, but I notice that if I drink coffee past 2 p.m., some nights it is more difficult for me to get to sleep.

Some medications are designed to help you sleep, others like amphetamines, have the opposite effect. I don’t recommend taking any drugs, prescribed or otherwise, unless necessary.

Once they have served their purpose to help you past whatever traumatic, or acute issue you were experiencing, it is better to stop.

All drugs have side effects, and some will disrupt your sleep. Also, if you need the occasional sleep aid, I recommend that you go the natural route with melatonin, valerian, chamomile tea, or something similar, instead of a drug.

Drugs for sleep will often give hangovers, or provide a tired, sluggish feeling the next day that may make work, or school more difficult.

Drugs can also be habit forming or addictive, and may make you dependent on them. If you need a drug every night to help you sleep, there is an underlying issue that should be addressed.

It could be a digestive, gallbladder problem, or stress, or anxiety related.

Other insomnia causes may take more time and effort to eliminate. Pain, and inflammation, for instance may require a regimen to provide relief.

Always better to look for and attempt to eliminate the cause of an issue than to just treat the symptom.

Treating symptoms may give you temporary relief, but if you don’t find, and eliminate the cause, it is only a matter of time before your symptoms come back, and possibly worse than before.

Best Ways to Treat and Help Eliminate Insomnia

Best sleep aid for insomnia
Earthing and grounding can help provide sleep

The best sleep aid for insomnia may not be a pill. Earthing  Earthing or grounding is described as connecting the electrical flows of the body with the electrical flows of the earth.

This is achieved by merely walking on the earth barefoot, or can be accomplished inside your home by using a grounding pad for the bed, or for the floor.

This technique has been shown to help alleviate sleep issues, as well as many other health concerns.

Gallbladder Detox and/or Flush  The gallbladder can be at the core of many sleep problems. Due to our unhealthy diets of processed, refined, and fried foods, the gallbladder can become jammed, and as a result, effect our ability to sleep.

A good gallbladder flush, or a detox may provide much needed improvement in sleep, mood, and energy.

Once you establish an earthing program, and detox, and flush the gallbladder, if needed, I believe you will also eliminate or at least minimize the intensity of the pain/inflammation, and any stress or anxiety that may be related to your insomnia.

Liver Detox I would also recommend a liver detox program. The most effective way to detoxify the liver is with a coffee enema. Coffee enemas should be undertaken at least twice a week for 12 to 13 weeks.

Use a good organic coffee, and an anti infective herb. Turmeric is also beneficial for the liver as a detoxifier, and can help with pain and inflammation.

Especially for women that are pre menopausal, or menopausal, a liver detox is important to rebalance the hormones.

Essential Oils and Weight Loss

Essential Oils and Weight Loss

Essential oils and weight loss
Essential oils have been used by many civilizations for over 6000 years

Essential oils and weight loss have been around for many thousands of years. Different civilizations have used essential oils for many practical uses for over 6000 years. These civilizations include Romans, Indians, Greeks, Egyptians, and Chinese.

Man has utilized essential oils, and their amazing properties for many different applications. Primarily, these versatile oils are used for healing.

There are, however, many other ways to benefit from essential oils including the area of weight loss, and weight control.

Although not as well known as the other ways to take advantage of essential oils, they are very effective for fat loss, and weight loss.

I will cover what essential oils are, the different ways to use them, the best essential oils for weight loss, and where to buy them.

What are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are aromatic, volatile plant compounds that occur naturally. They are hydrophobic liquids that are concentrated.

Within the plant they can be found in the flowers, stems, seeds, bark, leaves, and roots. Not all plant contain or produce essential oils. There are natural, and synthetic essential oils.

Essential oils are also known as aetherolea, ethereal oils, volatile oils, or as the plant oil from which they were derived.

Essential oils and weight loss have improved lives for countless years, providing a plethora of life enhancements including religious, spiritual, dietary, cosmetic, emotional, intellectual, and physical.

Not all essential oils are beneficial. Some essential oils can cause problems, even serious harm.  A few called photosensitizing oils can cause burning of the skin when exposed to sunlight for extended periods.

These oils include cumin, grapefruit, lime, bergamot, and lemon essential oils. It is also a good idea to not expose young children under the age of 1 year to essential oils.

Care should also be taken that essential oils are not ingested by children due to potential toxicity.

How are Essential Oils Used?

Essential oils and weight loss
Essential oils are derives through a distillation process

Essential oils are most often used when generated from the plant using the distillation process. Essential oils are made up of tiny molecules that can be absorbed by the body through the skin, or by inhaling through the nasal passages.

These oils are delivered for use by different methods. These methods include diffusing, steaming, topical application, ingesting, and smelling the oils.

Diffusing  Diffusing essential oils is done with the use of a diffuser that emits the oils particles into the air that is then breathed in. This is also known as aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is defined as the art of utilizing essential oils to harmonize and balance the mind and body. This is achieved by stimulating certain parts of the brain which strongly effect the body, and the mind.

A typical ultrasonic diffuser machine uses silent, ultrasonic waves to diffuse water with your choice of essential oils to instantly fill your environment with their stimulating effects.

This process does not use heat to diffuse the oils. Heating the oil can damage or compromise it’s beneficial properties.  Because you smell and breathe these oils, you want to utilize oils that have pleasant aromas.

Some of the more popular essential oils used for diffusing are lemon, pepperment, lavender, cinnamon, frankincense, and eucalyptus. 30 to 45 minutes is normally sufficient diffusing time for you to reap benefits, and will help conserve the oil.

Topical  Topical application is the process of simply applying the oils directly on to the skin. This allows the essential oil to be absorbed through the skin, and into the blood stream.

Due to the fact that these oils are fat soluble, they can be absorbed easily through the skin. However, due to the inherent strength of essential oils, they should be diluted prior to being applied topically.

Dilution of essential oils is accomplished with the use of carrier oils, not water. Generally speaking these carrier oils are used in a high ratio compared to the essential oil. Refer to usage information for the correct ratios of carrier oils to essential oils.

Some of the more common carrier oils are: coconut, grape seed, almond, avacado, and sunflower.

Essential oils and weight loss
Steaming is a good way to take in essential oils

It is easy to utilize the benefits of essential oils by steaming. Start by heating filtered water on the stove until it begins to steam.

Although not recommended, you can also fill a large cup or mug with filtered water and heat it in the microwave for 2 or 3 minutes.

Be very careful not to microwave the water for longer than this. It is much safer to heat the water on the stove.

Pour the water into a large cup or bowl, and put a few drops of your choice of essential oil into the water. This is very potent.

Close your eyes, or wear glasses to protect your eyes. Move your face over the cup or bowl, and breathe in through your mouth and nose.

You should immediately feel the results through your nasal passages, and through your mouth and lungs. This is a good, quick way to feel the effects from the essential oils.

Inhaling  The simplest, and easiest way to feel the effects of essential oils is to just open the bottle, and smell the contents.

It is also useful to open a bottle and place it in a bathroom, or anywhere else you would like to enjoy the scent of an essential oil without having to deal with a diffuser, or steaming the oils.

Diffusing is optimum, but this method can give you that quick pick me up to make you feel better.

Ingesting  (This method should only be attempted by or with guidance of a Certified Aromatherapist.) Caution should be used when considering ingesting essential oils.

Ingesting essential oils is an effective delivery method for some oils. It is also not a good idea for other essential oils. Most, if not all essential oils should only be ingested when mixed with a carrier oil.

Some oils can also be ingested by putting a few drops in a cup or glass of water and drank. Essential oils should never be given orally to children. Never let a child ingest essential oils.

Frankincense, and lemon, because they are gentle, can normally be ingested under the tongue. Other oils are more caustic, and can cause problems if ingested, or not ingested properly.

Therapeutic grade essential oil that is organic, pure and free of toxins and additives, and is also undiluted and unfiltered is best for this method.

Best Essential Oils for Weight Loss

Weight loss is another very practical application for essential oils. Some essential oils help burn fat, control sugar cravings, aid digestion, curb emotional eating, and others help suppress the appetite. An added benefit is to detox the body by helping to flush, and remove toxins.

The most effective essential oils for weight loss include Rosemary, Grapefruit, Fennel, Sandalwood, Frankincense, Bergamot, Lemon, and Ginger among others.

essential oils and weight loss
Rosemary limits the stress hormone cortisol

Rosemary essential oil helps control weight by limiting cortisol, the stress hormone. This helps control the emotions, and emotions often lead to excessive eating, and resulting gaining of weight.

Essential oils and weight loss
The active ingredient in grapefruit essential oil is nootkatone

Grapefruit essential oil is derived from the rind or peel, works by suppressing the appetite, detoxing the body, burns and dissolves fat,and is a diuretic. The active ingredient that helps achieve this is a compound called nootkatone.

Essential oils and weight loss
Fennel contains melatonin, a sleep aid and fat burner

Fennel essential oil is excellent for appetite suppression, helping digestion, and regulating circadium rythyms of sleep cycles.

Fennel contains melatonin which in addition to aiding sleep, also tell the body to burn fat instead of storing fat.

Essential oil and weight loss
Sandalwood essential oil helps control stress and emotions.

Sandalwood essential oil helps to bring about an emotional balance. By controlling stress, and emotions, you are less likely to turn to food for relief, which can keep your weight loss objectives on track.

Essential oils and weight loss
Frankincense essential oil has many weight loss attributes.

Frankincense essential oil can ease depression, and anxiety which can lead to turning to food, and overeating. It also helps aid digestion, and fat burning by increasing the metabolism,

Essential oils and weight loss
Bergamot essential oil decreases sugar which can slow fat burning.

Bergamot essential oil also calms anxiety, and depression, which can bring about emotional eating. Bergamot also helps burn fat, and decreases sugar which can slow fat burning.

Essential oils and weight loss
Lemon essential oil can emulsify fats in the body.

Lemon essential oil can assist in breaking down and dissolving of fats in the body, provide detoxification, and improve digestion.

Essential oils and weight loss
Ginger essential oil helps with absorption and digestion.

Ginger essential oil helps in nutrient absorption of your food, and at the same time aids in digestion. Better absorption provides more energy, and helps to increase metabolism, and burn fat.

Other essential oils that assist with weight loss include peppermint, jasmine, orange, and eucalyptus.

Where to Buy Essential Oils

When buying essential oils you want to be sure that they are 100% organic with no chemical, fillers, additives, or other adulterations which can affect the efficacy as well as toxicity of the oils.

I recommend  for essential oils, Barefut Essential Oils. They create high-quality, pure,  effective and affordable oils which are made using living ingredients from nature.

And because the earth has given us these ingredients, they believe in giving something back in return.

How to Dating Online

How to Dating Online

how to dating online
Online dating can be a great way to meet people.

My name is Tom. I have dated online for almost 20 years. I can honestly say that online dating can be a great way to meet people. I met my current girlfriend of the last 3 years online. How to dating online will provide tips, tricks and what to avoid.

Dating online can also be a great waste of time, and money, and contribute to emotional stress levels.  The results you get all depend on how you go about it.

I will share with you some of what I have learned about online dating, both the good, and the bad.

Hopefully this will keep you from wasting your time and/or money (like I did), and assist you in finding what you are looking for more quickly, and with less resulting stress.

I will tell you about some of the different dating sites, what to put in your profile on the site, including pictures, and why.

I will also tell you what to look for in other people’s profiles, what to say when you contact someone in order to get a response, and how to correspond.

You will learn the best steps to take to ensure you get a date, where to go on your first date, how to proceed if your date goes well, etc. You will also learn how to achieve your objectives with your new relationship, and a lot more.

Now, it’s true that I am a guy, and I am coming from a guy’s perspective. However, there is information for and about the ladies that I believe can also benefit them.

This will also let the ladies know more about the guys, how we think, and why we do the things we do, which I’m sure can also be useful.

Online dating has been called the ‘singles bar of the new millenia’.

I only wish that I had this information when I started out dating online back in the late 90’s.  Although, I think you will discover that it is mostly just common sense.

It is possible to find your soul mate online.

Dating Sites

how to dating online
Online dating caters to all different types of people and lifestyles

When I first broached the idea of dating online back in the late 90’s, there were only a handful of actual dating sites. I don’t recall if I stumbled upon it while online, or if a friend or coworker first told me about it. What I do remember is that I was hooked immediately.

I had to see how this new phenomenon worked, and if it was for real. Could it be true that I no longer had to summon courage to approach a woman in a bar?

Was it possible that I no longer had to depend on friends or family members to set me up on dates with their friends?

Could I really look at several, if not dozens of different profiles with pictures of different women, and choose the ones that I am most attracted to, lived close by, and had the most in common with before contacting them?

Today, 2018, there are dozens of dating sites. I have not counted them all, but I would guess the number approaches several hundred different sites.

Click here for Expert Dating & Relationship Advice

Many of these dating sites are short lived, as the competition for members has steadily increased over the last 10 years of so, and continues to increase as we speak.

There is attrition of the pay sites, and also of the free ones, as many people will let their memberships lapse once they are in a steady relationship.

The good news for many of these sites however is that a lot of people belong to more than one, and some belong to many sites.

There are still a few general dating sites, but most dating sites now are ‘niche’ dating sites. The different dating sites include free sites, pay sites, Christian sites, Jewish sites, adult sites, gay sites, senior sites, ethnic sites, activities sites, sugar daddy/sugar momma sites, hookup sites, speed dating sites, and many more.

Almost any group or desire is covered in the online dating site world. Some sites are free. Some are free for certain periods like 7 days, and then require that you become a paid member to continue.

Fast Fat Loss!

Others allow you to stay a member for free but they limit your access, and your ability to communicate with other members.

Most sites will allow you to begin for free, and at least let you look around, and see what the site is about, what the members look like, how much choice and variety there is, and what the site’s special features are.

Even the free sites have upgrades, and most sites provide much more value as an upgraded or paid member.

You can usually obtain a discount on the monthly membership rates by buying an extended membership. These extended memberships are normally for 3,6, and 12 months. The longer the extension you agree to, the lower the monthly rate.

My experience has been that you usually get what you pay for. With the free sites, you have to sift through a lot of sand to get to the gold.

The members of the free sites, generally speaking, are not as sincere as the members of the paid sites.  By sincere I mean that they are looking for a more serious, long term relationship.

The member profiles on the paid sites are also more thorough, and well written than the free sites. The member’s pictures are also better, as there is a feeling of putting your best foot forward there.

The free sites tend to attract everyone, so you find more people that are less successful, and many have different views, and objectives on life than those on the pay sites. This of course is a generalization, but it has been my experience.

The most popular dating sites in 2018 are:

Paid: Match, EHarmony

Free: Plenty of Fish, OkCupid

Religious: Christian Mingle, JDate

Delicious organic wine. No hangovers, no headaches.

What to put in your Dating Profile

how to dating online
Be sincere and honest when filling out your profile.

Much of this ‘advice’ is applicable to both men and women, but since I am a guy, it is from a  guy’s perspective.

The most important consideration in filling out your dating profile is to be sincere, and honest. You can’t be all things to all people, and remember, you are trying to find someone that you connect with.

For example, if you are a smoker, you probably won’t get along well with a non-smoker.  I won’t date smokers, but I’m sure there are a lot of smokers that wouldn’t date the likes of me because I don’t smoke. And, so be it.

If you are 5 feet 8 inches tall, don’t put in your profile that you are 6 feet tall.  If you are considerably overweight, don’t put that you are of average build, or even a few extra pounds overweight.

The truth will come out when you meet someone, and if you have misrepresented yourself, you will disappoint the person you are meeting.

They may also think that if you lie about your height or weight that you may also lie about other things.  Your odds of getting a second date go way down.

You don’t have to write a novel about yourself, and your likes and dislikes. In fact, I highly recommend that you don’t get too wordy. Just hit the main points, and you can add a little extra.

After all, you want to discover some things about your date when you meet, and have more to talk about.

When I see a profile that goes on and on, it makes me think that this person is self absorbed, and may have a tendency to want to talk your ear off.  People are busy, and they don’t want to spend an hour or two reading someone’s profile. At least I don’t.

Try to use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Now, I realize that not everyone is proficient in this area. Misspelling the occasional word is ok.

Not having perfect grammar, and punctuation is also ok. But, if it is obvious that you slept your way through school, or that you are dumb as a box of rocks, you will also likely struggle to attract prospective mates.

There are spelling checks, and grammar checks online that you can use, if need be. The site is a very good one for this purpose.

If you struggle in this area, it might be a good idea to run your writing through these before you hit the submit button on the dating site.

Try to refrain from using vulgarity. It is also a good idea to keep from being too political, and keep from denegrading certain ethnic groups, and countries.

You may be 100% in the right, and justified in what you say, but also remember that many people could disagree, or take your comments in the wrong light, and that could shrink your pool of possible prospects.

I’m not saying that if it’s important to you that you should not include it. Just saying that you should consider how your remarks will be taken.

Another statement that I come across quite a bit from the ladies that have kids, is “my kids always come first”.  This may be true, and I can respect that.

Fast Fat Loss!

However, if you are looking for a relationship, and you immediately make a guy feel that he is going to be relatively unimportant to you, it will lessen the interest that you will generate.

I think most guys understand that your kids always come first, and you would be less of a mom if you didn’t feel that way. However, you would be better off saying something like, my time may be limited because I have younger kids, but I will try my best to make time for a man that I like.

A good, recent picture will get you more responses.

Putting your picture on your profile is an absolute must. Profiles with pictures, even not so great pictures, get tons more responses than those profiles that don’t have a picture.

The types of pictures you put on your profile may be the single most important thing you include on your online dating profile.

Do not put pictures on your profile that are more than 2-3 years old. I have met a few ladies that looked so much older than their pictures, that I didn’t even recognize them when I met them.

Needless to say, I didn’t want to pursue a relationship with them. In this day and age with cell phone cameras, there is no excuse not to have a recent photo of yourself to post.

I also strongly suggest not to post pictures on dating sites that are too revealing. Unless you are posting to a hook up site, I would try to keep it clean, and civilized.

I have spoken to many women that say if they see a picture of a guy with his shirt off on his profile, they won’t communicate with them.  There are exceptions, like if you are at a pool or on the beach, but generally speaking I would error on the conservative side.

The same thing goes for the females. Although it is enticing to look at, too much exposure only makes you look cheap, and desperate.

If you present yourself this way, you will also attract a lower class individual. I like to leave something to the imagination, at least when long term relationships are being considered.

I am more interested in a woman that keeps things respectable, at least until we get to know each other. Don’t get me wrong. I am not the morality police. You can do what you want, of course, but just remember that your actions have consequences.

It is also a good idea from a guy’s perspective, for a woman to have only herself in her main picture. If you want to include your kids, and others in your secondary pictures, I think that is fine.

If your main picture is of you holding a baby, I can tell you that most guys will be turned off, and it will dramatically lower your incoming messages.

We know that you love your children, and family, but remember this is a dating site. We want to learn about, and look at you. We are not concerned about your family and friends right off the bat.

We may like to know how many kids you have, their ages, and whether or not they live with you, but I would low key the pictures of them, at least initially.

If you are not sure if which pictures you should post on your dating site, I suggest you show your pictures to a friend of the opposite sex.

Obviously, you want your best picture to be your main picture. Picking the right one can make all the difference.

Dating sites always show your main picture on the search results. I have seen main pictures that were not good, and secondary pictures that were good.

Let’s be honest, most people want at least some attraction. If you main picture is not your best picture, you could easily lose prospects.

How to Correspond

how to dating online
Be polite, friendly, and respectful with your correspondence.

On the how to dating online sites today, there is often competition. So many people are using online dating that in order to be successful, you have do things correctly. This can mean that you have to stand out.

Assuming that you have a good, readable profile with good, recent pictures, it is time to search for your possible dates.

Most sites will allow you to input the exact criteria of the type of person you are looking for in the search page.  If you get too specific in your search, you will decrease the results.

Determine what you must have in a potential mate, and leave neutral those attributes that you can live without. Once you have found a few good matches, it’s time to start communicating.

The first email that you send is very important. The feedback that I have from the gals is they want guys to write more than a few words.

They want to know that you read their profile, and that there is something in there that has piqued your interest. You don’t have to write much, but what works for me is to be polite, respectful, and to always ask a question about something in the profile.

For instance, if they say they like to play golf, you can ask if they played golf in high school.  Or, if they say they like seafood, you can ask what their favorite seafood restaurant is.  It is a good idea to not get too personal right away, and don’t ask things like, where in town do you live?

Whatever you do, don’t comment on, or ask anything that could be construed as sexual.  This may sound obvious, but I have been told that many guys get very personal right away, and it is a big red flag, and a turn off.

The point is, don’t come off like a creep or a pervert. This will get you nowhere.  Just be nice, act interested, and be patient.

If you come from just trying to make a friend, you will have a better chance of getting a positive, return message.

For the ladies, I think it is ok for you to contact a man on a dating site that you are interested in. It is very flattering for a man to receive a message from an attractive lady.

Normally, you will need to message back and forth at least a few times before you will be able to ask for a meeting. The usual progression is, 3 to 4 emails, then ask for a phone number.

Once you have the phone number, talk on the phone a few times. Then, once you sense that you have a rapport going on, ask for a meeting/date

Some gals don’t need to talk on the phone first, but most do. Being patient is key here.

how to dating online
The best first date is the ‘meet and greet’.

The first date or meeting, I think should be a short one. I have learned over the years that seeing someone in person can be very different from what you expect.

It is better to meet for a drink or a cup of coffee, than to plan on meeting for dinner, and making a night of it. I call this the meet and greet.

You can usually tell fairly quickly, sometimes immediately, if this person is someone that you would like to continue seeing. By arranging for a short first meeting, you can often save each other time and money.

If you do hit it off, and are attracted to your new friend, you can set up a dinner date, or some other longer meet up. I also like to make the first date a walk in a park, or a walk on a high school track.

Fast Fat Loss!

It is easy to converse, and you can get a little exercise at the same time. If you hit it off, you can set something up for another time.

If not, nothing lost, and you may have gained a new friend.  Your only loss will be your time at worst.

This strategy in how to dating online will also protect you from what I call the serial dinner daters. These are women that agree to meet for dinner with whomever is willing to take them, and pay for them.

They are often not looking for a relationship, they just like to go out to eat, and they really like that they don’t have to pay.

This brings up another aspect of online dating, and just dating in general. Should the man pay? Should both pay?

Interestingly, this social more was established years ago when the vast majority of women didn’t work and earn money. The man predominantly earned money, so it was required of him to pay whenever he dated a woman.

Today, things are very different. Many women earn more money than men. Sometimes they earn a lot more. My experience though is that many women, despite the fact that they earn as much or more than a man, still expect the man to pay.

My feeling is that all else being equal, this expense should be shared equally. After all, if you expect the same rights and priveledges, you should then also accept the same responsibilities.

I normally end up paying, but I like for my date to at least offer to help to pay once in a while. If they don’t, it will be noted as a negative, and may be cause to stop seeing that person.

At this point I could give advice on how to proceed with the relationship or not proceed. Each person is different. Each situation is different. People have different objectives.

One thing I can say with certainty though is that it is important to be polite, and considerate. If you set something up and you can’t make it, let that person know as soon as possible.

Be nice. The old saying, you will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar really holds true in the dating/relationship world.

If you are friendly, patient, and act like a gentleman ( you know, not a creep ), you will have a much better chance of your new friend sticking around, and it may not be long before your new relationship will escalate.

So, put the cell phone in your pocket, and if you are in a bar, don’t watch the game on tv. Pay attention to your date. I had to learn this the hard way. lol It is also a good idea not to drink too much, at least not for the first few meetings.

I know that first dates can be nerve racking, and I think having an alcoholic drink or two is ok, but I wouldn’t go beyond that. You don’t want your date to think you have a drinking problem, and you don’t want to come on too strong right away, which alcohol can sometimes encourage.

Remember also that many people on these dating sites know each other. If you gain a reputation as a bad egg, it won’t be long before much of the online dating community will find out about it. If that happens, your dating goose could be cooked.

The Singles Bar of the New Millennia

how to dating online
Online dating makes meeting someone easier than going to bars.

Online dating has been called, ‘the singles bar of the new millenia’.

There are many online dating sites today. There are free sites, and pay sites. You normally get what you pay for. There is every kind of site for almost every person, group, or interest.

Match, Plenty of Fish, and Christian Mingle are the 3 most popular online dating sites as of 2018.

When filling out your dating profile remember to be honest and sincere. Use good grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Don’t be rude or vulgar. Be sure to include a picture in your profile. Upload recent pictures, ideally not more than a year or two old.

Keep it classy. It is easy to take a picture today because most cell phones have cameras. So if you don’t have a recent pic of yourself, take a selfie already.

Ask a friend of the opposite sex to help you pick out your pictures to maximize your opportunities.

When searching for a potential date/mate don’t be too broad, or too specific. Your emails should show that you read the person’s profile, and look for common interests that you can ask or comment about.  Try to write more than a few words.

Be respectful, and patient, but show your interest by attempting to communicate by phone, and then in person. Keep the first date/meeting short.

A meet and greet is often enough to know if you would like to continue seeing the person.

A longer date may then be in the offing. How you proceed from here is strictly up to you.

You will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, however, if you catch my drift. Best of luck in your online dating endeavors.

Best Hair Loss Solutions

Best Hair Loss Solutions

Wondering about best hair loss solutions was not on my radar 15-20 years ago. With me it started with noticing that there was more hair in my hair brush than before.

I then began to notice that my shower drain was not draining properly. When I reached down to check it, I grabbed a pile of hair. Could this be possible? Is this my hair in the drain? Since I lived alone, it must be mine.

Best hair loss solutions
Your shower drain will let you know if your hair is falling out

If I am finding hair in the drain, and more hair on my brush, I must be losing hair from my head.  I began to examine my hair.

It didn’t look noticeibly different at first, but I kept finding more and more hair in my brush and more in my shower drain.

Before long I could tell by running my fingers through my hair that it was not as thick as before. I still looked fine, maybe this hair loss will stop somehow, I thought.

Then I remembered that my paternal grandfather was bald. My father was bald. My cousin was bald at 16.  My older brother’s hair was getting thinner every time I saw him.

Does this mean it is genetic? Is there nothing I can do to stop this process, I wondered? I don’t want to go bald. How will the ladies treat me?

Will it affect my business opportunities? Will I have to start wearing a hat everywhere I go? Will I be the butt of my buddies’ jokes? Will it make me look a lot older?

After all, I was only in my early 40’s. I really don’t want to have to buy, and wear a toupee. Nothing looks worse than a guy in an obvious toupee. Obvious to everyone but the guy wearing it.

It is almost comical. And what about the guy with the hair plugs? Have you ever seen bad hair plugs? That guy would be better off with a toupee, or going fully bald.

So, being the vain individual that I can be, I set out on an endeavor to learn all that I could about hair loss, and hair loss solutions, so I could keep this semi-traumatic happenstance from happening to me, or at least I believed if it did happen to me, I could minimize the damage.

Now it’s true that there are many worse things that can happen to a person besides losing their hair. But surely there had to be a solution.

After all you don’t see many bald Japanese men, or bald men of other nationalities. What are they doing, that I’m not doing?  Or what are they not doing, that I am doing?

Could I incorporate some things in their habits that might help fend off my own hair loss?

I don’t want my self confidence to suffer, and if I can look a few years younger, well then it is well worth finding solutions.

What Causes Hair Loss

Best hair loss solutions
Don’t let your hair loss make you an unhappy camper.

My Naturopathic health education background taught me that if you want to find a permanent solution to a problem, you must first determine the root cause. Pun intended.

Addressing and treating the symptoms of an issue may provide a temporary solution, but it may make the underlying problem or cause worse, and at best the problem will reappear with similar intensity in the not too distant future.

Hairs have a 3 year life cycle. It is normal to lose about 100 hairs per day.

Androgenic Alopecia Hair Loss (Male or Female Pattern Baldness)

There are several causes of Androgenic Alopecia hair loss, but the primary cause is hormone imbalance in both men and women.  The conversion of testosterone, a male hormone, into dihydrotestosterone or DHT.

DHT is made by an enzyme called 5 – alpha reductase. It can also be made from DHEA, dehydroepiandrosterone, a hormone more commonly found in females.

This is the process that not only contributes to hair loss on the head, but also forces more hair to grow out of your nose, and your ears.

Hair loss does not happen as often with women as with men due to the amount of estrogen that women normally produce.

Although women do account for about 40% of hair loss cases. This estrogen counteracts the effects of the DHT, and DHEA.

Another major cause of thinning hair and hair loss is stress. Stress can stem from work, family issues, dealing with illness, or any number of other triggers that are either perceived or actual. Stress tells the body, the adrenal glands in particular to release cortisol.

Extended periods of stress can overwork the adrenals causing adrenal fatigue. This can lead to a lower production of hormones like cortisol, as well as testosterone.  Hair loss can be the result, at least partly, of this hormone imbalance.

Being nutritionally deprived can also be a cause of hair loss.  When there are issues with the body such as with pancreatitis where the pancreas stops producing enzymes for the digestion and assimilation of food. less nutrition gets to the cells.

The hair is considered by the body, in it’s wisdom, as a low priority for the limited nutrition available. Thus, what nutrition is left goes to other more critical organs, glands, and tissues of the body, and because of this neglect, hair dies, and falls out.

Parasites such as threadworm, and hookworm can also be a cause of hair loss. These bugs get into the gut from contaminated food or water, and live off of digested food which depletes the body of needed nutrients that would feed cells of the hair and it’s support system.

Sleep deprivation or lack of sleep can be a contributing factor in hair loss.  We need to sleep 5 straight hours without interruption in order to allow the adrenals to generate the proper amounts of adrenaline to sustain our energy throughout the day.

7 to 8 hours of sleep per night is recommended for optimum health.  Low adrenaline can create stress.

Vitamin/Mineral deficiencies such as zinc, vitamin C, and some B vitamins can contribute to hair loss.

Chemicals, dyes, and drugs in so called hair care products like shampoos, hair sprays, gels, and treatments can clog hair follicles, and block absorption of nutrients, and prevent the ability to excrete wastes, which can cause the hair shaft to die.

Other causes of hair loss may include, shock or trauma, child birth, surgery, serious illness or disease, grief or other traumatic life event, or significant sudden weight loss.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disorder where the hair follicles are attacked by the body. This condition is primarily blamed on stress.

Don’t worry. There are many all natural solutions to stop hair loss.

The best hair loss solutions are natural supplements and foods that work with your body.

Avena Sativa or Oat Grass  This remarkable all natural solution stops the transition of testosterone into dihydrotestorone or DHT by blocking 5 alpha reductase, the main cause of hair loss and hair thinning.

Saw Palmetto  This popular plant works the same way as Avena Sativa by blocking 5 alpha reductase.

B Vitamins  B’s are made in the small intestine, and help alleviate stress by supporting the adrenal glands.  B’s also help reverse hair loss and increase hair strength.

Fermented Foods   These nutritious fermented foods provide good bacteria to the small intestine which makes B vitamins.

HCL or Hydrochloric Acid  HCL helps to kill pathogens in our food, and helps in digestion, and assimmilation of food to the cells.

As we age HCL levels in our stomachs decrease to critical levels starting at about age 40 due mostly to our diet of meats, and other cooked foods.

Supplementing with Betaine Hydrochloride with a Potassium Activator can bring these levels up to a healthier, more effective range.

Digestive Enzymes These enzymes are made in the pancreas, and help in the digestion of fats, sugars, carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, and dairy.

Our stores of these critical enzymes deplete due to our diet of cooked foods.  Enzymes catalyze the digestion of foods, and without them the digestive process is greatly inhibited.

Natural Sleep Aids such as Melatonin, Valerian Root, Chamomile Tea, Passion Flower, and others help us achieve the needed sleep for proper adrenaline production, and stress control.

We need to sleep 5 consecutive, uninterrupted hours per night for the adrenal glands to produce the adrenaline to help us through the day, and to help alleviate stress.

Other Hair Loss Solutions

Best hair loss solutions
Some drugs like Propecia, and Rogaine can help with hair loss.

Though I am not an advocate of drugs, I believe that they have their place, and use. Drugs are irreplaceable in trauma care, and in acute care. Chronic care, however, is another situation entirely.  I am an advocate of doing no harm.

Drugs often have side effects, and sometimes serious side effects.  In addtion, the continued use of some drugs can have a cumulative negative effect on the body, and cause problems which will manifest at a later date.

That said, there are two hair loss solutions that fall into the drug category that are have been shown to be effective in arresting hair loss in some people.

Propecia (Finasteride)  FDA approved drug for men with androgenic hair loss. A 5-alpha reductase inhibitor.

Rogaine (Minoxidil) Topical, over-the-counter medication (no prescription needed) that both men and women can use. May also even grow hair in some people.

All About Balance or Dynamic Equillibrium

Best hair loss solutions
Achieving balance aka dynamic equilibrium will provide many health benefits.

Best hair loss solutions are all about balance. Hair loss like many other imbalances in the body can be prevented, halted, and reversed for you if you work on bringing your life back into balance.

(If you are one of the rare, enlightened individuals whose life is already in balance, more power to you.)

There are 4 main parts or components to balance, or dynamic equillibrium. They are the physical, emotional, mental or intellectual, and the spiritual.

If you look at each of these components like spokes on a wheel, you can see that if one or more are out of balance, the wheel simply won’t roll properly.

Take an honest assessment, and try to find which parts need improvement. Emphasize any or all until your wheel rolls smoothly, and effectively.

Doing so could mean the difference between a life of low energy, sickness, and disease, and resulting unhappiness.

Or, it could mean a long life of sustained energy, little or no sickness, and disease, and a resulting happy high quality life. The goal is to live a long, healthy, high quality life.

How to Prevent a Heart Attack

How to Prevent a Heart Attack

How to prevent a heart attack
Do you know what to do to prevent a heart attack?

So that we can learn how to prevent a heart attack, we must first learn what exactly a heart attack is. A heart attack is a medical emergency that normally occurs when blood flow to the heart suddenly becomes blocked or significantly reduced. Without this blood flow, the heart tissue loses oxygen, and can die.

Although not usual, a heart attack can also be caused by a spasm of the coronary artery. This coronary spasm restricts and reduces blood flow to the heart muscle.

Medical terms for a heart attack are myocardial infarction or MI, acute myocardial infarction, coronary thrombosis, or coronary occlusion.

Heart Attack Symptoms

Heart attack symptoms can include a pain in the chest, arms, neck, or back, shortness of breath, cold sweats, anxiety, lightheadedness, fatigue, and/or abnormal heart beat or rythym.  It is also possible to have no symptoms.

A silent heart attack is a fairly common occurence, as well. It is possible for a person to have a heart attack, and not know it. This is called silent ischemia. Ischemia is defined as lack of oxygen.

It is estimated that a heart attack occurs every 40 seconds in the U.S.

What Causes a Heart Attack

How to prevent a heart attack
Do you know the heart attack risk factors?

Perhaps the most common cause of a heart attack is a plague buildup in the arteries, also known as artherosclerosis. Blood clots, or a torn blood vessel can also be a cause of heart attacks.

Risk Factors
Within these causes are risk factors that can generate the conditions surrounding the occurence of a heart attack. Some of the more common risk factors are:

Sex: Men have more heart attacks than women, but that is not to say that women are not at risk, they are.

Age: Your heart attack risk is greater if you are over the age of 65.

Race: People of African descent have a higher risk factor for heart attack than other races. This is not to say that other races are not at risk. They are.

Family History/Genetics:  A family history of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, or high blood pressure puts one more at risk. However, this doesn’t mean that it has a genetic cause necessarily.

Many family habits, lifestyle, and traits can be passed down from generation to generation.  The Human Genome project determined that less than 1/2 of 1 percent of all diseases have a genetic cause at it’s core.

Stress: Stress can be caused by many things such as job, family, health, finances, and diet, and is often another major factor in heart attack/disease.

Lack of Exercise: Light to Moderate exercise seems to help fend off heart issues for many people. Little or no exercise can have the opposite effect.

Obesity/Diet: Being overweight, and having a poor diet can make heart issues much more likely.

Smoking: Cigarette smoking is one of the least healthy habits you can force on your body. It can contribute to heart disease and many other health issues.

Drinking Alcohol:  Drinking alcohol to excess is a big risk factor for heart attack. However, it has been shown that light drinking of alcohol, 1 or 2 drinks per day, may lower stress levels, and may actually be factor in preventing heart attacks.

High Blood Pressure: Especially when combined with other risk factors, high blood pressure can be a significant factor in heart attack risk.

It is difficult to diagnose a heart attack before it happens, but it is very possible to diagnose if someone is a likely candidate for a heart attack. It is, of course also possible to have a heart attack without knowing it.

A doctor will look at medical history of a given patient, do a physical examination, and take blood and other tests, such as a stress test on a treadmill where heart rate, blood pressure, and heart rythym are monitored to determine if there is any clear evidence of damage to the heart.

To further define the evidence of heart disease, a doctor may perform a cardiac catherization where he can view areas that may have blockages.

He may also inject dye into the arteries to attempt to locate any blockages or plague buildup that can be seen with an xray.

Delicious wine with no hangovers or headaches.

How to Prevent a Heart Attack

Now that we know the causes, risk factors, and what a doctor looks for to diagnose heart disease, and how dangerous it can be, we need to focus and concentrate on how to prevent a heart attack.

If you have never had a heart attack, had one heart attack, or multiple heart attacks, this information will help you to decrease your chances of having a heart attack in the future.  Of course, ultimately it is up to you to take the information and put it into action.

Prevention of heart attacks, heart disease, and many other health problems is very much within our control. We make decisions every day that will have a profound impact on whether we live long, healthy, fulfilling lives, or whether our existence is mired with sickness, disease, and resulting unhappiness.

It is not just what we do, but also what we don’t do that determines our futures.

What not to do.
How to prevent a heart attack
What you don’t do can also raise your heart attack risk.

  • Drinking alcohol to excess is also directly linked to heart attacks, and many other health issues. However, if you can limit your drinking to 1 or 2 drinks per day max, you may contribute to heart attack prevention. Within the alcohol realm, red wine seems to have the most health benefits. And within red wine, organic, dry farm wines, appear to be the optimum to drink.
  • Taking drugs, both legal, and illegal can be dangerous to your heart health. Especially drugs like cocaine, meth amphetamine, and other ‘uppers’ can cause the heart rate to race, and create arrythmias, and other irregularities.
  • Even taking barbiturates or ‘downers’ can cause heart problems when combined with exercise, and other drugs or alcohol. My best advice is to only take prescription drugs when absolutely needed. Illegal drugs, of course, should always be avoided.
  • Eating processed foods, especially foods that contain high levels of saturated fats found in many meats, and other dishes should be shunned. It is also a good idea to stay away from fried foods, fat laden cheeses, sauces, and the like. If you do eat meat, eat leaner cuts of grass fed meat with no hormones or anti biotics added, and limit your portion sizes. Avoid table salt. This super heated salt is stripped of all vitamins and minerals, and can increase blood pressure.
  • Don’t be a couch potato! Laying around the house, whether it is in front of the tv, the computer, cooking fatty foods on the deck, or hanging out in the man cave should not be a too common occurence.  Although enjoying yourself is fine, it can also be taken to excess. People that don’t exercise, and seldom take in any fresh air or Vitamin D from the sun are at much higher risk for heart attack.
  • Don’t let the world get you down. It is easy to be negatively affected by the world around us, whether that is your spouse, family, job, the state of the country, depressing news, finances, or any other reason. Not maintaing an even keel, and a sense of Joie de Vivre or joy of life can lead to high stress levels, and even the dreaded heart disease.
  • Don’t work too hard. Many people have stressful occupations, and work long hours. Their entire lives revolve around their work, and they leave little time for anything else. It’s not difficult to figure out that over time, this all work and no play scenario can be a recipe for disaster.  It is commendable to want to do a great job, and be successful, but don’t do it to the detriment of your health.

What You Should Do

There are many things that can be done to prevent heart disease, and heart attacks. Remember that most of it is within your control.

Sleep a minimum of 7 hours each night. It is also very important to have at least 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep per night. This will help with stress, adrenaline production, and immune system regeneration.

Eat a heart healthy diet.  There are many foods you can eat that can help you have a healthy heart.  The main rule of thumb is to eliminate the garbage.

By garbage I mean the processed, refined, fried, chemical laden foods. You should eat whole, organic, fresh, raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, non farm raised fish, fermented foods, and whole grains to the extent possible.

If you eat meat, eat lean, grass fed meat that does not contain added hormones, or anti biotics. Limiting your consumption of
meat is an important component of a healthy diet.

When eating cooked food, steamed, and baked is much preferable to fried.

Do you know which foods are heart healthy?

Non Farm Raised Salmon. Wild salmon can be called Sockeye Salmon, North Atlantic Salmon, Alaskan Salmon, and some others. If in doubt, ask at the supermarket, or the waiter to be sure the salmon is not farm raised.

Even much sushi and sashimi today is made from farm raised salmon.  Wild Salmon is high in Omega 3 fatty acids, and the mineral selenium. Raw or baked are best methods to prepare and enjoy wild salmon.

Walnuts   These super healthy nuts are high in Omega 3 fatty acids, folate, a B vitamin, fiber, and natural Vitamin E(d alpha tocopherol) Almonds are also high in Omega 3’s, and are heart healthy.

Blueberries  These anti-oxidant fruit powerhouses are high in resveratrol, and flavonoids, both very heart healthy.

Fermented Foods  make B vitamins, different types of probiotics, as well as the heralded Omega-3 fatty acidsB vitamins are particularly effective in alleviating, and combating stress, and fermented foods provide a highly bio available form of these nutrients that the body can easily absorb, and utilize.

B vitamins also reduce levels of the amino acid homocysteine in the blood. High levels of homocysteine have been linked to heart disease due to causing inflammation of the arteries.

Some common fermented foods are: sauerkraut, yogurt, tempeh, miso, natto, kefir, pickles, and apple cider vinegar.

Dark Chocolate  Indulging in dark chocolate is heart healthy because it’s flavonols help lower blood pressure by relaxing arteries.

Make sure it is organic dark chocolate that doesn’t contain refined sugar, or other processed additives such as high saturated fat oils.

Cauliflower  High in anti-oxidants, fiber, and allicin. Allicin is found more commonly in garlic, and has been shown to lower cholesterol, and decrease the chance for heart attacks.

Sweet Potatoes or Yams  Helps to reduce high blood pressure do to it’s high content of potassium, Vitamin C, calcium, and iron.

Beets  Another high potassium super star, beets help lower blood pressure, and are a good source of betaine, and folate which can lower your levels of homosysteine. Homosysteine can damage your arteries by causing inflammation.

Beans  The high soluble fiber content in beans, along with heart healthy flavonoids, help reduce cholesterol, and reduce platelet adhesion in the blood, which can reduce risk of strokes, and heart attacks. Pinto beans, and black beans are among many that provide these benefits.

Natto  This fermented soy bean dish from Japan is one of the heart healthiest foods you can eat.  It has been used in Japan for over 1000 years as a remedy for heart and vascular diseases.

Natto can break down plague, and can dissolve blod clots. Other heart healthy fermented soy foods are Miso, and Tempeh.

There are many other heart healthy foods. Emphasizing a plant based diet to the extent possible will greatly enhance your chances of fending off heart disease.

Healthy Heart Supplements

It is true that with all of the genetically modified produce, over farming, and chemical additives in the soil and on the crops that even normally healthy plant based foods are often greatly compromised, and devoid of nutrient content.

Even eating organic, raw, and plant based may not be enough due to our aging body’s lower levels of hydrochloric acid, and enzymes needed to digest our food, and send nutrients to the cells.

A bad diet can also compromise the cell’s ability to absorb nutrients, and expel wastes, which can lead to more health issues.

Luckily, there are many highly bio available, and easily absorbable supplements, and nutrients available that provide the critically needed nutrition for a healthy heart, and healthy cardiavascular system that are lacking from our diet.

It is vital to use a ‘live source’ supplement, or you are simply throwing your money away.

B Vitamins:  B’s help with cell metabolism, and energy, fight free radicals, boost HDL (good cholesterol), and lower homocysteine levels. Additional B vitamin benefits include helping to detox the liver.

COQ10 or COQuinol: COQ10 is a big player in heart cellular energy.  COQ10 deficiency is associated with heart failure.

HCL (Hydrochloric Acid) loss of HCL is associated with heart artery blockage.  As we age the HCL levels in our stomachs decrease, and unless we supplement we can’t fully digest our food, and, as a result send our cells it’s needed nutrition. Good digestion also keeps homocysteine levels low.

Good Oils (Essential Fatty Acids) supports cardiovascular system, and will increase HCL (Hydrochloric Acid).

Good Salt helps control blood pressure, and increases HDL (Hydrochloric Acid).  Sun dried sea salt, and some pink salts are ideal.

Acetyl L Carnitine this super anti-oxidant has been shown to help with angina by relieving chest pain, shrinking dead tissue, and improving blood flow. Also an effective brain nutrient.

Magnesium  this important mineral helps control high blood pressure, and irregular heart beat/heart rythym.

D-Ribose  supports ATP production which aids the hearts energy, diastolic function, and muscle contraction. Helps in treating angina, arrythmia, heart failure, statin caused myalgia, and peripheral vascular disease.

Grape Seed Extract  helps prevent blood vessels from damage, useful in treating high blood pressure or hypertension, and helps lower LDL ( Low Density Lipoprotein) or bad cholesterol levels.

Find Your Happy Place

An important aspect of how to prevent a heart attack, and just as important as eating a healthy diet, is to find enjoyment, contentment, and peace in life.

What works for me is a long walk in the woods, 1 to 3 times per week. I am able to get some exercise, fresh air, and I can commune with nature all at the same time.

Something about being out among the squirrels, and the deer provides a relaxing, peaceful experience that allows me to forget the hassles, and stresses of work, and life in general, and rejuvenates my mind, body, and spirit.

Your happy place may be a beach, or a park, or perhaps a stream, or a river, or maybe just sitting on your patio or deck off the back of your home.

Whatever it is, and whereever it is, take some time to find a place where you can relax, destress, and unwind. And go there often. Your heart will thank you for it.

It is heart smart to exercise and commune with nature

Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessary to perform long, intense periods of exercise in order to receive an aerobic benefit.

In fact, exercise of long duration, and high intensity may even create more health issues than it solves, especially if you are in the over 40 age group.

It is now known that just walking 2 or 3 times a week for 20-30 minutes at a time can provide a significant heart, and overall health benefit, and may be more beneficial than many other types of exercise.

People that walk regularly have less incidence of osteoporosis, depression, anxiety, stress, stroke, and heart disease than those that don’t exercise.

Activities such as yoga, and meditation also have positive effect on heart health.

Be Social

Being socially isolated or lonely can increase a person’s risk for heart disease and strokes according to many recent studies.

It was also discovered that those that maintained their social interactions have a much longer life expectancy than those that do not.

Get in Touch with Your Spiritual Side

Many longevity studies have shown that those that attend services, or are involved with religious, and spiritual organizations or communities are less likely to develop heart disease, and their life expectancies are an average of 10 -12 years longer than those that shun spirituality.

Do What You Love for a Living

The old saying goes, if you do what you love for a living, you will never work a day in your life. This is also considered the ‘secret of success’.

Since we spend a great deal of time at work, or at least most of us do, it just makes sense that we should find an occupation that we love. This bit of advice is more appropo for those not yet retired, but it affects the majority of us.

It is common sense that if we enjoy our work, we will be less stressed, feel more satisfied, and probably achieve more in the process.

Put it into Practice

Knowing how to prevent a heart attack is one thing. The other is to actually put how to prevent a heart attack into practice. If you are the type of person that doesn’t like to make abrupt changes in your lifestyle, try a gradual approach.

Make a few positive changes per week, and add a few more as you go. You may find that once you feel better, you will become addicted to a healthier pattern of behavior, and look forward to becoming healthier every day.

You owe it to yourself, and your family to take care of yourself. Start today to be good to yourself. Your heart will thank you for it.
