Is there one best exercise lose stomach fat? The truth is, there are many good exercises to lose that stubborn stomach or belly fat. I have my personal favorite exercises to lose stomach fat, and I will share all of them with you.
I will explain what these exercises are, and the best way to utilize them. I will also tell you my number one exercise to lose stomach fat, and why I am convinced of it. I will include other great fat burning exercises that you can put into practice if you so choose.
I will also tell you the best exercise equipment that is appropriate for each exercise that I believe to be effective for stomach fat loss.
Better Safe than Sorry
The one thing to keep in mind is that there are no bad exercises for losing belly fat, or any other fat for that matter. Almost any exercise you can think of will help you lose fat at least to some extent.
You should always keep in mind though that you don’t want to risk injury, and you should always start slow with any type of exercise.
If you have not exercised for a long period of time, I strongly suggest that you check with your doctor first before you start any exercise program. This is true especially if you have had health problems in the past particularly related to the heart.
You should also consider that if you have a poor diet, and if you smoke and/or drink to excess, your results will likely take longer, and you may be putting yourself at risk for health problems such as heart attack or stroke with vigorous exercise.
Again, you should check with your doctor first to see if he feels exercise is right for you, and if so what type, and how much exercise you should do.
You will achieve the quickest, safest, longest lasting fat loss results if you incorporate a healthy diet, and lifestyle along with your exercise regimen.
Best Exercise to Lose Stomach Fat
The best exercise to lose stomach fat is: Running/Jogging As a former marathon runner, I can tell you without a doubt that running is the best way to lose fat of any kind. You don’t have to run marathons though in order to see fat loss results from running.
Jogging is so effective, that even if you can only run a half mile at a time, you will see results. The longer you can run, the more fat you will lose, and the quicker you will lose it. And, if you are consistent with it, you will achieve results you may not have believed possible.
If you live in a colder climate, or a climate with a lot of rain, or if you are concerned with personal safety, and it is difficult to run outdoors you may want to consider buying a treadmill or similar exercise machine.
This will enable you to jog in the comfort and safety of your own home, and still receive the benefits from running or jogging.
A wonderful side benefit from running is the runner’s high. If you can build yourself up to run for 20-30 minutes at a time, you will experience the runner’s high.
Your lungs will fill up with air, your steps will become lighter and easier, you will feel stronger, and you will feel as though you can run for hours.
Another side benefit from jogging is an alleviation of anxiety, and depression. Your mood will improve, and you will feel that things you were worried about before have melted away, and become less burdensome. You will become more clear headed, and your thinking or cognition will improve.
Also, you will not need to devote as much time to exercise, if time is of the essense for you. You can achieve an effective fat loss work out in less than a half hour a day, should you so choose.
Now, I realize that you may have nagging injuries, and the idea of running/jogging may not be appealing to you or is not practical for you.
Other Great Exercises to Lose Stomach Fat
Okay, so maybe you aren’t a jogger/runner, and you have good reasons for not being one. That’s ok. There are several other great exercises to lose that stubborn belly fat.
In my humble opinion, the next best exercise to lose stomach fat is swimming or water aerobics.
Swimming is a very low impact exercise. So if you have joint issues, muscle issues, or arthritis, swimming may be just the thing for you. In addition to being low impact, swimming also provides resistance.
It is a great way to get aerobic exercise, and will also allow you to get a great fat burning workout. A side benefit is that you can gain definition in your arms, legs, and stomach area with consistent effort.
Water aerobics can also be very effective. This entails walking or jogging, along with various arm movements in a pool utilizing the pool water resistance for an extended period of time. This is ideal for those that don’t know how to swim, or don’t like to swim.
If you don’t have your own pool, many gyms, YMCA’s, and other workout clubs do have pools that you can use to swim, and many will also have water aerobics classes.
Of course, you will have to pay a fee, but often it is not expensive, and memberships in these places will usually provide you with other types of exercise at your disposal such as weights, basketball, raquetball, jogging tracks, aerobics classes, etc.
Cycling is another great exercise to burn stomach fat, and is excellent for firming and toning the muscles of the body. The popularity of cycling is at an all time high. There are now many bicycling clubs and organizations that cater to riders of all skill levels.
Muscle Burns Fat
If you think you can’t lose fat by lifting weights, think again. Weight lifting is a great way to burn stomach fat, and other types of fat.
With weight lifting you not only get a fat burn from muscle building, but you also get an aerobic workout that burns fat.
You don’t have to lift heavy weight either in order to get benefits. Light weights can also help bring about good fat loss results. Either free weights, or the universal weights (the large machine with various types of weight lifting exercises) will work.
In fact, the old standby stomach fat loss exercise sit-ups, a form of muscle building, can also help you lose belly fat. My favorite sit-up to do is left elbow to right knee, and vice versa sit-up.
If you raise your knee to meet your opposite side elbow as your raise your upper body, you will work both the upper abdomen, and the lower abdomen at the same time. This will efficiently maximize results in the shortest possible time.
Even an exercise as simple as the Yoga Plank will help you lose stomach fat. The Yoga Plank position is the push up position with your body resting on your elbows and forearms instead of on your palms, with arms pointing forward on the floor. There are variations of the Yoga Plank.
The idea is to stay in this position for as long as possible, and building up to 5 minutes at a time or longer. This will strengthen the back, the core, and even burn belly fat with consistent effort.
Best Equipment to Lose Stomach Fat
The best equipment to lose belly fat is a good pair of running shoes, and a good pair of running shorts. If you run longer distances, or plan to do so, I highly recommend you invest in a good pair of both. Don’t skimp here.
A good pair of running shoes are worth their weight in gold to a runner. Running shorts that won’t chafe your inner thighs will become very important as you increase your distances.
If you want to also be able to run or jog indoors, I suggest purchasing a good treadmill. Treadmills come in different types, sizes, with different electronics and features, as well as different price ranges.
There are many other types of exercise equipment available that will help you lose that stubborn stomach fat. Ellipticals, rowers, stationary exercise bikes, and stair steppers will all give you a good work out, and help you reach your fat burning goals.
If you would rather swim than run, and your finances dictate, there are now many great exercise pools that can be placed inside or outside the home, and don’t take up too much space.
With some of these pools you are effectively swimming in place as adjustable current and resistance are supplied to provide the same effect as swimming in a lap pool.
Of course, you could join a gym with a pool, but then you may have to deal with crowded pools, unsanitary conditions, and the hassle and time of driving to and from the gym.
If lifting weights are your thing, a set of free weights may be to your liking. There are also universal weights, as well as weight lifting machines available.
If you are serious, a home gym will provide all of the exercise equipment you will need allowing for work outs right in the comfort and convenience of your own home.
Due to the continually growing popularity of bicycling, there are now many excellent choices for the aspiring rider. There are road bikes, cross bikes, and mountain bikes.
If you intend to do some serious cycling you will need to invest in a good bike. And don’t forget your helmet.
The bottom line is that any exercise you undertake will help you lose stomach fat. You should always start slow, and if your haven’t exercised in a while, it is best to check with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to begin an exercise program.
Keep in mind that in addition to exercise you should also eat a healthy diet, and incorporate a healthy lifestyle by not smoking or drinking to excess. This will help you achieve sustained, consistent results.

For swimming, exercise pools or lap pools are ideal, especially if you don’t want to deal with the hassle, crowds, expense, and conditions of a gym or health club.
For weight lifters, a set of free weights or universal weights work well. If you are serious, and you have the room, and your finances permit, a home gym designed to your specifications is the way to go.
Bicycling popularity is at an all time high and for good reason. Cycling allows you to firm and tone your body, and receive a great fat burning workout at the same time.
There are many excellent bikes on the market. There are road bikes, cross bikes, and mountain bikes. How serious you intend to be with your cycling should determine the level of quality bike your purchase.
